| My neighbor had candy stolen and she posted it on Next Door, when she called 911 they told her to call non emergency police they might be able to help her better, when she did they told her there was nothing they can do, because candy was left out and there no law that says kids are allowed to grab one piece of candy. |
| How do you leave candy outside for the purpose of giving it away and then claim it was stolen when someone takes it? |
| Stay home if you want to police the candy. |
just posting what I saw on Nextdoor... |
|
Yeah, I’m pretty sure that if you place things outside of your home with the intent of giving them away for free, you’ve just got to accept that people will take it.
Does your neighbor have mental health issues? Maybe check on her occasionally? |
| Take them, sorry |
| You have weird neighbors. |
+1 I can’t imagine caring about this. For 20 years we have spent Halloween with friends because our house’s location sucks for ToT. Every year we leave a big bowl out. About 1/3 of the time it’s all gone, the other times it’s full or almost full. The only time I ever got annoyed is when someone took the actual bowl, but it arrived back unharmed the next day. |
Of course there is- theft. |
| My friend is a 911 operator and I guarantee you the entire room of 911 operators heard about this idiot calling on Halloween about stolen candy and LAUGHED. |
| This always happens. It happened in the 70s and 80s when I Went trick or treating. If you leave a bowl out, expect kids to take it all. It’s a fact of life. Either stay home and pass out candy or turn off your lights. Stop complaining about this every year. It’s stupid! |
It’s not theft. It was left out for someone to take and they decided to take it all. It’s not stealing. |
