Has anyone successfully gotten rid of saddlebags through working out and/or diet? I suspect mine are due to my desk job, time spent in the car, and hormonal changes after surgical menopause. I’m 55.
In the past two months I’ve been tracking calories (1300-1800/daily depending on exercise). No alcohol or dairy. I’m a healthy BMI of 20 and 24% fat, according to the scale at my gym. I do weights 3x/week, light cardio 3x/week, and a bodyweight class (yoga or Pilates) 3x/week. But nothing I’ve done has made a dent in my saddlebags. Thoughts? Encouragement? TIA. |
5'6", the only way I've gotten rid of saddlebags was when my weight got down to around 125-128.
Now my weight is 145 and yes I have saddlebags. (Mine are pretty big.) I think mine are genetic as the weight just hangs out there despite weights and cardio. Neither Mom nor my grandmothers had saddlebags but they were all somewhat thin women. |
Barre 3 zapped mine. |
I would not lose weight. A BMI of 20 is probably the lowest you can go without sacrificing bones and muscle. Just be heathy and continue to exercise and try not to focus on what your perceive as flaws. You are 55. You are the only one that cares about saddlebags. No one else notices this is thinks of it as a flaw. They probably think you look amazing for your age and it is great you aren’t overweight |
Mine went away with liposuction. I was never overweight. It’s just what my body shape was. Best money I ever spent. I could finally find pants that fit. |
+1 the only real solution to highly localized issues like this is lipo. |
Me too. I was tiny with huge outer thighs. I've gained weight back in the years since and it is distributed more proportionally. Zero regrets. |
I have awful saddlebags. I even had them when I was in college but they were much smaller. But pants never fit me. |
B3 person here - I love my workout and my studio. I agree the workout will help with OP's issue, especially the new B3 Strength class. |
Coolsculpt is actually amazing for this. I did my inner and outer thighs, and it's a total game changer.
I ALSO did my stomach, and while it did something, it probably wasn't worth it. But the doc who did it said people are typically pretty happy with the results on the thighs, where 1/2-1" difference is pretty big. |
I think saddlebags are cute and feminine! My thighs are just fat and cellulitey all over. |
OP here and thanks, I’ll look into it. I just joined a gym so can’t afford other classes right now. Can any of the exercises translate to the gym? |
Losing weight is the only way my saddlebags get smaller. I haven't found any way to get rid of cellulite and now crepey skin. |
Yes, in B3 we do a lot of squats, planks, deadlifts, rows, overhead presses, bicep and tricep with dumbbells. Basically a lot of the "push-pull" compound motions which is what you want and will give you the biggest bang for your buck. The key really is to push yourself, hard. Don't use tiny 3lbs weights, you'll just be spinning your wheels and not make much progress. You have to use weights that are heavier than you think you can handle. |
You need to get lipo |
