Need to lose 10 pounds

Anonymous
Should I mainly focus on what I eat or how much I work out? Currently 5’7” and stuck at 148 lbs. cannot get below for some reason.

Don’t currently diet but don’t eat horrible - probably too much pasta but not into junk food or dessert and drink limited alcohol (2 or so drinks on the weekends).

Work out - walk about 12,000-14,000 steps a day. Try to do a higher heart rate exercise like bike, weight lift or run 4-5 times a week.

What can I do to lose the last 10 pounds? I am turning 40 and want to start the new decade strong!

Focus on what you eat! Try 2 meals a day, low carb, no snacking for 2 weeks and you’ll be halfway there.

Diet. Exercise for health diet for fat loss.

Try intermittent fasting and reduce carbs. If your activity is what is is and you don't drink much, that could work well.

Are you soft or do you have obvious muscle?

You work out a lot, so a lot of your weight may just be muscle and you don't want to lose that!

+1 If you're willing to try these two things you WILL drop weight. But this is a lifestyle change OP. Don't do this just until you lose the 10lbs, you have to continue living this way.

Op - I have a lot of leg muscle. I am soft in the belly (lots of pregnancies!).

I’d recommend tracking nutrition religiously for one month in MyFitnessPal. You’ll be amazed. I’d balance weights with cardio, favoring weights. You get lots of cardio. Add weight lifting or body weight workouts 3x a week.

Go carnivore plus walking for 1 month. You will be amazed at how easy the weight comes off. No cheating though, you have to be strict

So many stupid fad diets being mentioned! You need sustainable weight loss. Move more, eat less. Download Lose It! app and see what you eat. Pasta is OK if you're eating a lot of vegetables too.

I highly recommend LoseIt if you can commit to be brutally honest about what you actually eat (looking at you, Halloween bowl of mini almond joys.)

This. I was able to lose those last 10 pounds using the Lose It app. If I don’t count my calories, I tend to overeat without even realizing it (a small bite here…a nibble there….it all adds up!)

But I will say that exercising, even if it’s just walking for 30 mins a day, definitely helps the weight come off faster.

Why do you need to weigh less? If your body really isn’t budging, it’s likely that’s your set point weight and your body will do whatever it can to keep you there. Staying below it permanently will require constant vigilance and low level hunger.

Op - I have never been consistently this heavy before. Prior to this I was between 130-140lbs for years. Now I am hovering closer to 150 and hate it.

What does your doctor say? We have been sold a pack of lies regarding weight. You can be healthy even with those " extra" ten pounds.
