Just like everyone else, we are supporting her choices as she applies to several universities; most are in the Northeast or mid-Atlantic, although two are on the west coast.
We can’t escape the constant coverage of the recent Hamas attack on every news site and all over social media. But most shocking to us has been the reaction on university campuses, and in many cases, the lack of reaction from the university leadership condemning terrorism. The biggest issue though is: will she be safe on campus next year as a Jewish student? |
Yes. |
I'm in the same boat. Yes, I believe our kids will be safe next year.
Best case scenario - it dies down and nothing is mentioned and the SPJ groups aren't as active. |
Are you familiar with the Hillel Guide To Colleges. If concerned, there is safety in numbers so just go to a school with lots of other Jewish students. (Tulane University & the University of Florida both have lots of Jewish students.) |
Yes, thanks! American U. is on the list, but not her first choice. |
Avoid GMU, I saw they had a big Palestine support demonstration there, not happy with what's become of my old school, they wanted diversity and this is what they got. |
Unless people specifically target those schools since they have high numbers of jewish students. There is a lot of hate right now. It is absolutely worrisome. |
Yes, just need to make a wise choice. No Ivy’s. |
So the answer is no diversity? No differing points of view. GOt it. |
This should get interesting. |
By next year people will be thinking about different things. News moves fast. |
Diversity is only OK when it supports PP's viewpoint. |
Were they supporting terrorists? |
Tulane, Brandeis, George Washington University, Barnard College of Columbia University, WashUStL, Goucher, Clark, SUNY-Binghamton, Boston University, Oberlin, Muhlenberg, Ithaca, American, Skidmore, & Cornell should be comfortable environments based on the percentage of Jewish students in attendance. |
Of course. As safe as anyone. And certainly as safe as your Muslim friends. |
