Has anyone released the charts for interpreting these? Our school released results this week but I can only find quartile ranges for Fall 2022. |
I feel like this was the same problem as last year. From talking to my teacher friends the state actually didn't send charts to interpret them so it was a struggle for teachers too (last yr anyway). So maybe check the state VDOE website?
I also think the test is on stuff they should know by the end of the yr so don't be that concerned if your kid didn't do well because they haven't learned a lot of the stuff yet. |
OK just went to the VDOE website. https://www.doe.virginia.gov/teaching-learning-assessment/student-assessment/parent-caregiver-resources-for-growth-assessments I guess they haven't released publicly the chart yet? I don't know. That is annoying. My kids teacher was able to tell him what % he fell into the day he took the test, but I am not sure where he got that info from. |
I'm also trying to figure out -- is this what they are supposed to know by the end of the year (and therefore really don't worry about it) or is this what they are supposed to know already? |
Can we glean anything from the fall results last year...or would they be totally different? (I'm guessing they're different because my kid would have scored pretty highly...but has mostly x marks under in the scoring of medium difficulty qs.) |
Apparently for grades 4-8, it tests last year’s content. For 3rd, it tests the current year. That’s what APS’s letter says, anyway. |
Thanks, APS for giving us results but no way to interpret those results making them useless for PT conferences. Just had mine, and even my child’s teacher was annoyed. |
Seriously - what’s the point? He got some right. He got some wrong. He was given a score that has no meaning absent an explanation. |
Yup, meanwhile I have no results for my first grader's reading and math assessments that would presumably be much easier to interpret. |
The letter also stated that the VDOE hasn’t released the info to interpret the scores yet. That is not APS’s fault. |
You should get those at your parent teacher conference. |
They just released the score when the state released them..I mean I guess they could hold them until the state releases the interpretation chart but people would probably complain about that too. The raw scores do show you what SOL your child doesn't understand so you can focus on those areas. Not completely useless. |
How are the raw scores helpful? I don’t see any info about what the highest possible raw score even is. |
Again they said VA has not released the data yet so we have to wait..sheesh folks got pissed when APS took months to give out SOL scores because they were waiting in the state data/chart and now folks are made because APS decided not to wait and release scores ASAP |
It would be nice if we had them too. - APS teacher |
