Please explain to me why Arab countries are not taking in Palestinians

Anonymous
I am asking this question with genuine curiosity. Arab countries such as Egypt and Iran — why have they not been supportive of taking the 2.5 million Palestinians crowded together on the “open air prison” of Gaza to their countries? All you see when you look at the maps of the Middle East is so much land.

Please don’t say it’s because Palestinians don’t want to leave Gaza. I’ve been learning more about Palestinians in Gaza and they’re restricted from the ability to migrate. Why? I just don’t understand.

This has been discussed extensively in the other thread. It is not going to happen and has not happened, so just accept that.

1) Iran is not an Arab country; 2) many of these countries have issues with the Palestinians that they did allow to emigrate historically; 2) Egypt hates Hamas and Islamic Jihad; 3) Jordan is 70% Palestinian and part of the country makes up the land claimed as “historic Palestine” and they are worried about being overrun.

1. Maybe the Palestinians don’t want to leave.
2. Iran is not Arab. Iranians hate Arabs.
3. Hamas is an ally of the Muslim Brotherhood, terrorists like them. No Arab government wants more Islamists in their country.

I have a Palestinian friend. She told me, that while it's difficult to get permission to leave Gaza and enter Israel, once you get that permission the Israel border officers treat Palestinians in a respectful and professional manner.

She said that entering Egypt takes forever and that the Egyptians are beyond rude and nasty.

We have this notion that Israelis are horrible to Palestinians. While that's likely true to a great extent, just wanted to share an anecdote that many Arabs do not treat them much better.

We've heard repeatedly that not all Palestinians in Gaza are Hamas. Yet, you seem to believe they are.

1 is definitely nonsense. Residents of Gaza want the freedom to come and go that we in the West enjoy. Many of them have families and lives in Gaza so they'd stay if given the choice, but the Gaza strip sucks.

I don't think the PP is necessarily saying that. There is a concern that people from Gaza are hard to vet. Hamas uses human shields, spies, and commits terrorist acts. Many governments are strict about letting them in, erring on the side of caution.

The Gaza Strip sucks because Hamas takes aid and spends it on rockets and tunnels. We saw what happens when Palestinians get the freedom “to come and go”.

This is true. This does not mean that Palestinians don't want to leave. That sounds like something a 2nd grader would say.

I don’t think all Palestinians support Hamas at all. In fact they need to be liberated from the terrorists. However the Arab nations need to error on the side of caution with who they take in. It’s easier to simply deny entry to all than go through a through vetting process.

Palestinians can migrate into Israel. It’s hard but not impossible.

The notion that Gaza is a prison is wrong. They have been deprived of certain critical infrastructure, but they absolutely can leave.

Yep. Jordan had an offer out for full citizenship for Palestinians leaving Gaza for over 20 years.

They ended it in part because some of the Palestinians who entered Jordan formed extremist cells there.

Outside of Jordan, most Arab nations aren't open to refugees. They're not taking Palestinians for the same reason they didn't take afghanis. And, speaking of Jordan-it has a massive refugee problem. Its economy can't support the ones they've got...and that's not even looking at the security issues from the camps.
