Anyone Regret Getting A DC Flag Tattoo?

They were all the rage for a while. But it’s been a clown show for two years with no end in sight. I can’t imagine having that flag permanently affixed to my body.

Tattos are for posers.

Who gets a DC flag tattoo anyway, aside perhaps from immature "middle finger" ANC commissioners?

I don't have any tattoos, but most people have local pride tattoos because they love the place they live/are from. I don't take them as endorsing the current leaders or political situation.

What are examples of “local pride” tattoos that people commonly get in other cities/states? The only other place in the country where I would even expect people to get tattoos of the state flag is Texas. I’m not sure that should be the model.

I personally know people with Texas tattoos (both the flag and the state shape), DC flag tattoos, New Mexico state flag design tattoos (not the whole flag, that thing in the middle), and Chicago flag tattoos, off the top of my head. I've seen the Bear Republic logo on a tattoo, but it wasn't a personal friend. Same with the Southern Cross constellation for people from Australia/NZ.

If you are dumb enough to do that, you deserve it.

I doubt there's any state in the union that doesn't have a fair number of people with flag or outline tattoos. It helps if you've got an attractive flag/clear symbol. Other than DC, I've lived in NC, Chicago, and Rhode Island and encountered state/city flag tattoos in all three.

California and Colorado for sure. Also lots of state shape tattoos from Michigan.

I know someone with a Buffalo flag inspired tattoo although I can't remember exactly what it looks like now.

I’ve never seen or heard of a single person with a Virginia state flag tattoo. Not saying that it doesn’t happen, because there are all sorts of idiots out there, but just that if there are people with them it’s limited to a small fringe.

There is a bit of path determinism at work where by the time someone has gotten a DC flag tattoo they have probably already made a lot of other bad life decisions. So I’d doubt they would be regretting the tattoo instead of regretting how they have ended up sharing a room in a decrepit Petworth row house with their loser boyfriend that they are financially supporting.

Someone I know has one on his face. I kind of love him for it. That's owning it. In general, I have pride in DC without demanding statehood. That proposition smells like a rotten fish. -- DC born and bred

If they actually regret it, which I doubt they do, a good artist can often cover it with a different tattoo.
