Kat Von D renounces occult and gets baptized

Kat Von D revealed on Tuesday she was baptized in her local Indiana church.
More than a year prior, she renounced witchcraft and the macabre on Instagram.
Von D also moved out of California, covered many of her signature tattoos, and closed her tattoo studio.

Von D has shared photos of her family attending church on a few occasions since moving to Indiana in late 2021. She also said in July 2022 she was throwing out her belongings that related to the occult.

"I don't know if any of you have been going through changes in your lives right now, but in the last few years I've come to some pretty meaningful realizations — many of them revolving around the fact that I got a lot of things wrong in my past," Von D wrote in an Instagram post at the time. "Today, I went through my entire library, and threw out books that just don't align with who I am and who I want to be."

She continued: "I've always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don't want to invite any of these things into our family's lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves."

The former makeup mogul also said she didn't want her post to seem critical of people who enjoy those topics despite her feelings about them.

"But right now, it's never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light," she added.

Kind of like when people quit alcohol, but take up cigarettes. Same thing, but with a replacement.

I’m happy for her.

Wasn’t she pretty young during the show and fame?

What an idiot. It's the same thing.

(I like both).

"Kat Von D was first accused of antisemitism in 2008, after she was accused of sending a note to a coworker featuring an illustration of a swastika and captioned with “Burn in hell, Jewbag.” "

"In 2015, the artist released a line of beauty products. One of the lipstick shades was named “Selektion,” which the Forward noted was a term used by the Nazis."

This isn't breaking news...

Why is this a religious thread and not an entertainment one? Is the church trying to hail this as some sort of victory against witchcraft or something? Why do we care that someone changed their religion at all?

I think it’s a nice. I don’t know much about her, except she was into the occult and witchcraft. I thought it was a gimmick to sell makeup and tattoos but apparently she actually was into the occult.

I assume that she has changed her life because she’s a mother now. If she was anti-semitic and not a good person earlier in her life, she has obviously changed for the better.

Judging from the religious fervor of some of our politicians, I don't believe that at all.

But obsessively cruising a mom’s chat board to trash religion isn’t weird at all.

Yes exactly this. Now she can be controlled by religion and everything in it.

She can have a new purpose (denouncing her old life) a new project (all the new rules to learn and paraphernalia to browse & acquire) and a new driving force (now religion and everyone on that train will make her decisions for her).

She’s got a child and wants to have a good life for her child.

Do you personally know this woman?

If you don’t care, ignore the thread.

It’s religious because it’s about a religious topic.

The moderator said in the website feedback forum that someone alerted on the previous, deleted thread that this topic should be in the entertainment forum. You are complaining again about this? If you don’t care about this woman and her choices, why are you reporting the thread and complaining about it?

Because you do care. You can’t stand that this woman renounced witchcraft and the occult, and accepted Jesus into her life and believes in God.

The same goes for the charming poster who keeps posting (in both threads) implications that Kat is mentally ill and is having swings in behavior and is “collecting” new things. This poster is not above falsely using mental health-something many people legit struggle with- to deflect that a celebrity has turned away from the occult and embraced religion.

Eh, I hope it works out for the best for her. It seems like a pretty extreme swing from one thing to the other, but hopefully it will bring her happiness.
