1. Primera Iberdrola Liga F 16 teams
2. FA Women’s Super League 12 teams
3. National Women’s Soccer League 12 teams
4. Frauen-Bundesliga 12
5. WE League 12 teams(started in ‘22)
6. French Women’s League — France 12 teams
7. League Women 12 teams
8. Campeonato Paulista de Futebol Feminino 12 teams
9. Damallsvenskan 14 teams
10. Serie A Femminile 10 teams

So 1 and 2 are way above all the others. The NWSL is most likely lower given the low number of player who were still playing by the group stages of the World Cup. By the quarter finals I think there were 2 or 3 NWSL players left. There is an English language bias in these ranking. Also French will have some really goods teams at the top of the table but the rest of the league is not that strong.

After 2 the next 3 can really be in any order. They are fairly close and it depends what criteria you are using- tops team, top to bottom players, etc, etc. Look for Liga F and Super league to really open up the gap in the next few years.

You might be confusing the men’s and the women’s side.
1. NWSL - it is leagues above the other in competitiveness.
2. WSL - top 4-5 teams are fun to watch and competitive. The drop off from there is far
3. Frauen Bundesliga - usually just Wolfsburg vs Bayern munchen but Wolfsburg is going through a sweeps now and the top players have left and/or are leaving. Eintract Frankfurt (who historically were very strong) are making more investments.
4. Ligue 1 (France) - pretty much a farmers league. Lyon and PSG are the big two but Lyon almost always comes away with it. They’ve made some changes to the format so now to win the league, it’s very much like the US where there is a playoff and a final.
5. Liga F - absolutely a farmers league. there’s no competition in this league. Barcelona already win it halfway through the season. 5/10 best women players in the world play on Barcelona and they spend much much more than any other team. Real Madrid is there closest to”competition” and they usually beat them by 4-5 goals. Would not recommend to friend. Barcelona are a joy to watch but without the competition it’s not very exciting.

Esther Gonzalez (a Spanish player who used to play for Read Madrid) plays on Gotham FC and stated that the every NWSL match is like “playing Barcelona every week” She said it’s much more competitive and you don’t know who is gonna win so everyone has a chance.

Champions league: very boring to watch early on but once it gets to the quarter finals it’s much more exciting. It’s pretty much Barcelona vs Lyon vs Chelsea as to who will win. Arsenal, Bayern munchen and Wolfsburg tend to go somewhat far especially Wolfsburg, but I already mentioned that the expectations are low in the next coming years due to internal club issues.

How do you rank leagues? Usually the metric is the one with the most valuable teams and revenue.

No you obviously do not watch the other leagues. The talent and level of soccer played by the top teams in those European leagues is insane and is unlike what is on display in the NWSL. The speed of play and technical ability is just at another level. It actually looks pretty close to the European men’s leagues. Not many of the USWNT players could play on a top team there. Remember when Lavelle went over and had problems breaking in the line up?

The NWSL is “competitive” or flat because all the teams have about the same talent. It is a make work league for USWNT players. The bottom teams can beat the league leaders because there is little difference. No team stand outs. Any NWSL team would be a 500 or lower in Liga F, WSL and Première Ligue.

The most competitive soccer leagues are the men’s European leagues (EPL, La Liga, Serie, Bundesliga). They have a very few strong teams 2-4 teams(the 4 champions league slots money helps) and the rest are some where on a bell curve. A normal competitive league has a bell curve.

The top US womens players play overseas. It's a no brainer. NWSL is not the top league - not even close

It seems NWSL is really the "B" team of professional women's soccer. Most players need to spend significant years overseas to up their game and make money.

You just showed you don't know as much as you think you know.

Rose was coming off an injury. The MCWFC manager, Gareth Taylor, all but refused to play her in her natural position. Therefore, she struggled to make an impact.

Taylor is known for choosing favourites and freezing others out because he doesn't "like" them as much. Most fans of the City Women's team think he handled her poorly and wasted her talent during her time in Manchester.

Who watches women soccer? It exists because it’s subsidized.

Good things women's soccer fans aren't economists too. You are missing the whole point if you don't support women's soccer. Why you on DCUM? Any boy dads on here are failing ECNL hats

True. Most players go overseas for real training.
