Did he go to college/graduate college? I saw he went to an elite boarding school for high school…but there is no info on higher education past high school that I’ve seen with a quick search. Odd.

He went to GW for a few years but I don’t think he graduated.

He went to an elite boarding school (Hotchkiss) for one semester.

Ah yes, the old Appeal To Inertia. Someone did a bad thing a long time ago and there were no consequences, so there should continue to be no consequences for doing bad things.

I was a Democrat two weeks ago. I'm now independent, and the disgusting hypocrisy and whataboutism displayed by so many in my former party is a big reason why. All those performative "I believe women" types who hounded Republicans for mistakes decades ago are seemingly fine with this pig of a candidate because he's "progressive."

Quiet word on the street is that he was kicked out of Hotchkiss. And it involved assualt of some kind. This will be coming out.

I find Platner intriguing, not so much for who he is for he is clearly not a good man by any meaning of the word, a good man does not get a Nazi tattoo, and I've been in very dark places psychologically in my life but have never been as nasty as he ever was with women or on reddit forums. He's the kind of person who in a different time and context would be quick to pick up the guns and eagerly kill entire families as enemies of the state. Like the Bolsheviks or Mao's followers. But the willingness of his followerers to overlook anything he did is what really intrigues me. Which tells me progressivism is a religion and akin to a cult. The narrative is important, it doesn't matter if your candidate assaulted every woman in Maine, you'd still crawl over broken glass to vote for him. Because of the cause!

I don't like MAGA or Trump, but I find the hard progressives far more disturbing. The guy in Texas, Paxton, is terrible, but he's just a self-serving b*astard whereas Platner genuinely seems to want to harm people and takes a perverse pleasure in it.

This is populism, it’s a whole political phenomenon you can read about historical examples on both ends of the spectrum and over a hundred years in America from Huey Long to Donald Trump.

Platner is a populist, he’s presenting a populist platform and working a populist political paradigm and yes voters are responding. And for those of us who have dismayed to see the rise of MAGA and its intransigence are chilled to see that it can happen just as easily on our side.

But your comment suggests you think it’s just progressives and that assertion would suggest you’re either willfully ignorant or a pathological liar.

RCP average: Platner +7.4% over Collins

No polls from June yet, interested to see if this holds.

So cute when MAGAs lie.

I saw those, and Platner was ahead of Collins 51%-49%.

I haven't seen a poll yet that shows Platner behind Collins.
