In my fantasy life, I live on the upper west side in NYC in a beautiful apartment. I have a green velvet couch and my place is full of plants. I have a huge terrace. I'm a curator at the Met, but I only work 30 hours a week. I have a trust fund. My lover is a gorgeous architect. We go out to eat twice a week and then make love for hours. He gets bagels and coffee the next morning and then leaves. I have a housekeeper but no pets or children.
Add yours. |
| I’m too tired to come up with my own. Can I just take yours? |

I love your fantasy life, OP.
I would live in a cute bungalow in West Hollywood, have a garden I putter around in daily, no financial worries (trust fund/wealthy spouse). I would read and volunteer and go out to nice lunches and brunches. I would do yoga and be in great shape - no job, no kids, should be easy.

| I live alone in a cabin in the woods. I wear a lot of natural fabrics and have two dogs and let my hair go grey. I spend my days working on my novel and making crafts. The house contains only handmade items and things I have sewed and knit myself. I drink a lot of tea. Since this is a hallmark movie type situation eventually a hot guy with a beard and flannel shirt shows up. He makes me a beautiful dining room table from wood he chops himself. Then he ravages me and then he makes some fine soup and bread for us which we enjoy with a fine bottle of wine as we watch the birds at the bird feeder. |
| Ha this is amazing. Mine is similar except with no man, just lots of friends I meet up with and a cat that magically doesn't shed. Also I'm a teacher at a high school with students who are remarkably well-behaved and hard-working. I go see the exhibits at the Met you've created on a regular basis. |
| Funny, I always have a green velvet couch in my fantasy life too! |

Mine is living in NW, but top floor condo or even two combined. My lover is a simple blue collar worker, but he has got to be Colombian. My lover cooks and cleans and does more than that.
I have enough money not to work (almost there. I exercise to keep myself busy and work or volunteer for a non-profit that teaches investing for lower income families. I'm half way there though. I got the velvet couch. I'm already exercising. Got my eye on a Colombian. I hope he won't resist. |

I live in a beautiful house with mountain views and don't have to work. The temperature where I live never goes above 70 and there is no humidity. I am active but naturally thin and can eat whatever I want. I spend my winters skiing and summers hiking and traveling. I do some volunteer work in my free time.
I have my kids, but we have a driver who shuttles them around to their practices. We have 2 golden retrievers. |

My fantasy life is my current life but with a $50M trust fund...and maybe a catamaran in St Thomas.
I wouldn't change a thing about it except, my wife and I would quit our job and become teachers. Money is truly my only stress..and we have a decent amount of it already! |

I live in a house next to the beach. I don’t work. I have a housekeeper, a chef, a driver, a personal trainer and a massage therapist. I have a lover that stop by only when I call him and leave as soon as I ask him to leave.
I also have my DD but she has a nanny to keep her entertain when I am tired. |

Once a year I have to make the trek up to Martha’s Vineyard to sit in on the family meeting to ensure our trusts are being handled properly. My brother brings the artist that he’s sleeping with who is less than half his age, she’s from some eastern bloc country and it’s some kind of fiber art that looks like someone emptied the vacuum. He goes on and on about how her art is a statement on economic slavery while she, the artist, rolls her eyes at me.
I spend my time setting up permanent residences for kids that are aging out of foster care, I gave them a place that they can call home for the rest of their lives if they want it, guidance for education, personal finance and I have staff that teaches them how healthy relationships can work. I have a workshop where I fabricate architectural sheet metal elements for a few restoration contractors. My shrimp farm that I set up on the eastern shore has just turned a profit and the quality is so good I may be the first supplier up for a James Beard award. I have a house on Providenciales, another on Long Island sound and a cabin in the woods in Maine; each one has a boat. I never say the word no, someone says hey do you want to go to Paris? the answer is yes, someone says hey want to go try catfish noodling?, the answer is yes, want to go to Iceland to see the northern lights, yes I do, want to go to Burger King?, yes I do, think we could get into the French laundry tomorrow? Yes I do. |
Call me. |
This! I love my life. But it would be better if I had a giant pile of money so I could quit my job and spend my free time on hobbies. |
| I live in a French apartment ( pied de Tierre? I’m sorry 😣 ), have a big black comfy couch and a black german shepherd. My house is filled with peonies, and modern art by black artists. My house smells like vanilla and coffee, I wear a kaftan with lacy undergarments and lots of gold jewelry. I let my hair grow out nappy( no more flat irons or blow outs). I speak fluent French, and holiday in Crete or south of France. My husband is Lebanese and has an affinity for black American women. Ugh (cries in northeast DC marble countertops with loneliness) |

I live in a temperate mountain town on a scenic street where every home has perfect curb appeal. I walk every day to a quaint downtown. My historic cottage has been impeccably renovated and there are no surprise maintenance disasters. Everything is organized and there is not a drawer, closet, bin, or corner in the house that causes my chest to tighten when I think about it. Have I mentioned my landscaping? It's perfect, and I have lots of free time to garden. There are hydrangeas.
DH can join me in my fantasy if he is also living his fantasy life, which means we have a weekend home and boat at a lake that is similarly impeccable, he has fully launched his side hustle into a satisfying career that has allowed me to ditch my miserable job, and our cottage has a detached office/gym where he can not bother me during the day, because I am busy in my sunlit studio quilting, reading, crafting, planning gatherings (again, beautiful home and outdoor space!), lighting seasonally appropriate expensive candles, and generally doing all of the things that our current life does not have the time or space for. Oh, our kids? They are happily attending whatever college is the best fit for them, and they eagerly join us at the lake house on weekends and holidays. They bring their friends and/or significant others, who love to spend time with our family, because we are fun, relaxed, and amazing hosts. |
