EDP brackets

For a league that is supposed to be promotion/relegation, EDP brackets are still quite unpredictable.

Scratching my head at some team placements. Teams that didn’t do great staying in their divisions and teams doing better being relegated.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the clout of certain clubs carry a lot of weight. Otherwise, the placements seem almost arbitrary.

Teams/TDOCS can pretty much request both promotion and relegation (or if you lost every match, have it foisted upon them). What age group are you looking at?

the brackets for the girls seem much different from last year. It is like it hyper local now instead of playing teams in PA, MD and VA.

Up to U14. My kids have been in EDP for a few years, with small and larger or more well known clubs. I know that for a small club, it’s a sore topic that they always seem to get shafted with relegation or when brackets are added or contracted, even if they do better than other big club teams. So some of their teams are in a lower bracket than teams they beat in the previous season.

Does NCSL promote or relegate more fairly?

Does tournament performance help clubs argue for higher bracket levels placement?

IIRC, the top and bottom 2 teams in NCSL get promoted or relegated. I’ve never seen this not happen, although I can’t remember at what age group it starts.

I know a girls’ team that keeps bouncing back and forth between NCSL D1 and D2. They are promoted air relegated every fall and spring.

Some of those schedules look pretty disappointing on the girls side.

It looks like u16 isn’t even tiered anymore beyond 1 and 2. DS’s team was supposed to play in 3 but there’s no listing for that division. Just 16B South Atlantic Red, Blue and White. He was already upset that they were playing in 3 of moving up to 2 (what he was told when he joined) so I hope they just haven’t finished loading the schedules.

I think some of the clubs will scream bloody murder. They didn't follow previous years' standards in moving teams around so it just looks political and everyone knows the gotsoccer and other rankings are bogus but even still they didn't follow those either. I see teams that beat other teams badly multiple times being in the same division when they were in higher/lower divisions before and some really great teams being relegated down even though they did fine last season in their division.

EDP people, explain WTH is going on before all the clubs leave.

2011 boys. Teams pushed to EDP 3 while teams they did better than last season are in EDP 2. Latino clubs Maryland International and Cerritos relegated to EDP 3, while PPA Green, Laurel Soccer Club, and SAC 2011-premier blue who did worse that those two teams stayed in EDP 2. How demoralizing for those kids.

We’re they relegated or did they request it? Our club TD said he didn’t want DS’s team in EDP 2 because the sub rules are different and he’s very much about development. DS is very unhappy about it.

Definitely not requested. They were relegated even though both teams did better than the teams that were allowed to stay in EDP 2.

Last year DD's team ended up below teams they had beaten and finished ahead of in league play

So they are going to u13. they might have lost kids to other teams since this is the time that teams expand. You don't know why they were moved. the coach/club usually makes the recommendation on where to place them.
