If you live in DC, how often do you go to the Smithsonian’s?

Pre Pandemic we’d hit them all a few times a year. Especially the castle, portrait gallery/atrium, NGA. Now we forget to go.

On first dates
When I’m on the mall and want a snack but stay to look around (NMAI)
For special events (after hours)
To nerd out with friends who haven’t gone in years

So, probably 5-6 times per year

Exhibit quality has declined over the last few decades. It’s all about the corporate sponsors and politics now. I enjoy it less than I did as a kid.

I don't go as often as I should. I used to try to go to Hirshhorn and Freer at least 3-4 times per year, and the National Gallery at least a couple of times. Haven't done that since Covid shut everything down. DH and I have played "tourist at home" occasionally and hit Natural History or Museum of the American Indian. But mostly I go to the art galleries.

I go often with the kids because they are free. Maybe once or twice a month?

I like museum Sundays during the winter. When I worked downtown, I stopped at the Renwick or the Portrait Gallery at least once a week, but now I WFH so it’s not as accessible.

We used to go as a family a couple times per month, but it’s dropped off recently with sports and other life stuff.

I go to Hirshhorn a few times a year. The rest I go to occasionally but they don’t usually have intriguing rotating exhibits like the Hirshhorn so I feel like I’ve seen it all. I go to the zoo several times a year.

I go to events at the Blacksonian all the time. The others a couple times a year, more if family is in town

At least once a month including NGA although not a Smithsonian. But I love museums.

Before kids, only when we had out of town visitors. After kids, monthly.

We are in Montgomery County and used to go 8 to 10 times a year on Sundays. But now that they are charging for parking on the mall, it’s more like once or twice a year.

Natural History is our museum of choice.

Once a month when the kids were little, for a few years. Now, we forget they are there. Plus, there are only so many visits to the museums one can do - in any case.
