Equity for all is a farce

There's no equity at ACPS. Three elementary schools have foreign language while the rest do not. How do they get away with this! No equity.

Correct.

There are so many ways that ACPS fails to provide equitable education to different groups. ACPS never really defines what it means by equity and gets away with its failures.

Subject is correct, example only points to a waste of resources. Equity in education is bad for everyone. Equal opportunity to excel in education needs to be the goal.

Equal outcomes are still possible but they should have stayed the course and gotten rid of TAG, honors and AP to move things along.

I think you are confused. Equity is not equality. Two different things.

Yes! ACPS should win the race to the bottom!

If that's so then explain why kids couldn't have outdoor lunch during the pandemic because it had to be equal and not all schools could accommodate for space.

I don't understand why this keeps being said. Is it sarcasm? Asking honestly.

That was just a lie from Hutchings and central office. Nothing to do with equity OR equality. Just laziness and the need for control.

This is the vision long term. Hutchings outlined it in his book and many of the school board members LOVE that book. That's why he was allowed to write it during COVID instead of doing his actual job. And that's why his pick is now superintendent.

He is no longer in charge. Let's move on.

ACPS and the SB follow his vision as outlined in his book. His personal pick (who has no experience) was chosen over all other candidates to be superintendent. The majority of SB members are committed to his vision. I just wonder how big is consulting contract is. He will never be gone from ACPS.

I agree that Hutchinga’ vision survives which is why there needs to be push back against destroying TAG and AP classes (I say this as a parent of a student with disabilities who likely with never qualify for either).

If ACPS wants every student to succeed (per their slogan) some need TAG and/or AP classes just liked my child needed specialized instruction that wasn’t provided. Equity means ACPS might need to provide different things to different students. I am afraid ACPS just views “equity” as way to bring those who are actually succeeding down to the middle (and to take away programs while paying lip service to groups like students with disabilities).
