Where do the genius level kids go these days?

Is there a school that most of these extraordinary kids are going to now? It seems the Ivies are mostly athletes, legacies, and URM picks.

And that they can get into. Not all geniuses have the GPAs that MIT and Cal Tech require

public flagships and even secondary campuses. Ivy’s don’t seem to be looking for geniuses.

+1 big state schools, especially in state.

Look at the SAT scores for UMDCP, for example. Yes, I know that it's self selecting since it's T.O., but for the ones who submitted the scores, in the thousands, it's pretty high.

OP here. Thanks, to clarify, not just STEM, but someone who may be the smartest person you will ever know but doesn't run a nonprofit or is an athlete.

Unless they are personable enough to get leadership positions in high school, or compete in academic competitions and win, then on paper they will look like the dozens of other kids from their own high school with great grades and test scores. The kids with the ECs will get into the private universities, the rest will compete for public flagships that will not want to take too many kids from any one school.

. You say this as these groups are mutually exclusive! You can be a genius too but I digress. Getting top scores and grades don't make one a genius by the way.

No, the grades and tests are easy to achieve for the academic genius. Not talking about a prepped kid, just a true intellectual but not necessarily a MIT type. Yes, they still exist.

yea, having parents who went to that school is more of an indication of geniusness than top grades and scores. /s
