It's fundamentally a problem of modern-day conservatism, not "liberal bias."
Conservatism is ultimately simplistic slogans that aren't borne out by real world research (i.e. climate change is not human-caused, gun control doesn't work because only criminals will have guns etc.) There's no need for science to give "equal time" to such nonsense or to have affirmative action for conservatives. Take Fauci for example. He's actually on the more conservative side when it comes to Covid, but conservatives insist he's a Covid-zero fanatic or implementing a "far-left" agenda. |
| Scientists respect facts and research. The GOP is about fluff and slogans, but don;t actually get things done, other than tax cuts. The GOP certainly doesn't follow science in crafting any legislation, so why should scientists respect the GOP? |
| Exactly how was Fauci more conservative vs liberal, OP? |
| And the GOP has sadly taken an anti-scientific stance, with their climate denial, their magical belief that oil, gas and coal are in endless supply and have nothing to do with fossil biomass, their attacks on public health, vaccinations and womens health, their attacks on higher education, their attacks on EVs and alternative energy, their attacks on environmental protection, and dozens and dozens of other areas where Republicans are dragging us backwards. |
Do you have a citation for your claims or did you just dream them up? |
I don't know exactly what Fauci's politics are. But among mainstream public health experts, he's on the conservative side. What he recommended was mild compared to many other developed countries. But according to simplistic GOP rhetoric, COVID was "lockdowns" vs. "freedom." The GOP is so far off the spectrum that Fauci is considered a "leftist." |
This post is hilarious. |
NP. We all know the answer to that. |
So… fluff and slogans like: “Defund the Police” “Build Back Better” “Black Lives Matter” “Intersectionality” “Lived truth” “No Human is Illegal” “Check Your Privilege” “ACAB” “Smash the Patriarchy” … and so many more? Like those? |
| Fauci’s public health positions didn’t even have a political valence until Trump decided COVID needed to be downplayed so that the markets wouldn’t tank during an election year. |
I don't think a majority of scientists embrace all those slogans. |
“All are Welcome”* * assuming they can afford it |
DP, but look at the voting patterns of people with college degrees over time - educated people are increasingly voting for Democrats, while Republicans are increasingly the party of the uneducated. It doesn't take a brain genius to connect the dots to the parties' respective policy positions. |
