| Would you ever shop at the lower end store like Aldi and Lidi? How good are the foods? Is it worth saving $100 a month? |

Love Aldi. I don't live near a Lidl or I'd shop there, too.
It's like Costco in that you can choose chunky or smooth and not be overwhelmed by choice. Organic or not. Some locations are nicer than others. You need a quarter for the shopping cart, but don't have to deal with abandoned carts in the parking lot. You also need your own shopping bags or can grab a box or buy a bag. The Lidl I went to was all self checkout, but Aldi is doing that now, too. It takes some getting used to these European stores. |
| Love Aldi. It couldn’t ever be my only grocery store as there are some things that they either don’t have (I think they change what they carry more often than other stores…I’m never sure they’ll have what I’m looking for or not) or that I prefer to buy elsewhere (I don’t really like their bread selection and I typically don’t like to buy meat at Aldi). But for certain items, they have really good deals and decent quality (their produce and dairy items are generally good, you can get good fish there, lots of good dry goods—cereals and snack foods) and they’re almost always cheaper than other stores). |
100% But I live close enough that there's no extra gas expended or even driving time spent. |
| I shop at Lidl and Whole Foods only. |
| Yup. Lidl and HMart are my jam. |
| Low prices but not all low-end. Lots of international packaged foods and regular name brands as well as their own stuff. I'm partial to Lidl's interesting snacks and miscellaneous cheap clothing, kitchen utensils, outdoor supplies. I realized it makes me nostalgic for shopping at Rodman's. |
OMG. I hope I don't know you IRL. |

Costco, Whole Foods, Wegmans, Indian Grocery store, Giant, safeway, Great Walls, Grand Mart, Halal Meat shop, Aldis and Lancaster County Dutch Market. We have everything close to us and we shop in all these stores for very specific things. Also stop at many farm stalls around us for specific produce. Honey, Eggs, Corn etc.
Trader Joes for snacks. Local farms for chicken eggs. south mountain creamery for dairy products. |
Oh, also the African store (for the fufu flour and soaps). Germantown is incredibly diverse. |
| I'm jealous! I would love to do that. Are you retired or just super efficient? |
I doubt the PP means they shop there every week… |
