Stars tryouts

Anybody else have a 2029 daughter tryout for Stars and not get an email about team placement? We are new to travel lacrosse and don't know if we should expect an email even if she didn't make a team.

Didn't the 2029s just hold their tryouts Monday night? Did they tell you offers would be issued this quickly? That seems like a really tight turnaround.

The person running the parent meeting said to expect an email Wednesday morning. I thought that seemed quick, but I have no idea how these things work. But the players heard them say Wednesday morning, so my daughter has been asking all day.

My daughter is a different year, but her offer came a bit later than communicated at tryouts. Per a returning parent, the process often runs behind. I'd keep watching your messages tonight and tomorrow. Our email came late in the evening (after 10pm).

Are the Stars HS teams considered midlevel teams?

Stars is looking to have a competitive 2027 team.

Yes, probably. Their HS teams have done better this summer and have generally been in the 120-140 rankings (out of 300 or so teams nationally) on US Club Lax.

I would still put the pecking order for 2025/2026 teams as approximately

Capital Blue (Top 10-20)
Pride Black (Top 50-75)
Capital Orange (Top 75)
YJMA Top team (Top 100)
Stars
Pride White
3D VA Metro
YJMA 2nd team
Virginia One

Agree. I would imagine there will be many girls at the tryout tonight who are good but didn’t get a spot on Capital.

Pride Black is not above Capital Orange at least not at the 26 level. I see Stars rising in the coming years as well.

Stars eventually may get to 3rd on this list behind the two Capital teams in coming years...

Agree. STARS at the HS level is a young organization but if some of the area 2027s who didn’t make Capital end up there, it could be the start of strong growth for the program

In my experience with travel soccer, “by Wednesday morning” could mean anything from Monday night to three weeks from now…
