| A lot of threads on here describe the problems with various schools. Who has had a great experience? What elementary, middle, and high school did you/your kids love and why? |
| Following and would especially like to hear positive feedback on schools in the Eastern part of the county. We are looking to move and being on the Eastern side would simplify commutes a lot. |
| Just a caveat that posters should post when their DCs attended. A lot has changed in the past 5 years. |
Yep. If your kid went to MCPS prior to Curriculum 2.0, their experience really isn’t relevant. Ideally, only current parents should be posting. |
It isn’t MCPS, but I recommend looking into West Laurel - Bond Mill Elementary, specifically. It’s a great school. We lived in eastern MoCo at one point but moved the couple minutes drive into PG. Very happy here. |
I have friends whose children recently attended and currently attend Bond Mill and they love/d it! |
I agree with this. We have been at our ES for the past 11 years and it has changed dramatically over the time (and not for the better). Definitely should be just current parents responding. |

We love FCPS. I realize there are kids that could not thrive in this environment but mine do. If you want diversity, exposure to different ways of thinking and lots of options for out of classroom activities this might be a good choice. Also, VA has great state school options.
It is not often talked about on this forum but I would encourage you to consider. |

My oldest will be in 9th grade next year, and they had a really good experience at Loiederman MS. Good to great teachers in all except one class, excellent language instruction all three years, and really love that the block schedule allows kids to take 8 classes. It was great to balance out the academics with such fantastic electives.
I do not have positive views of older kid’s elementary school experience, minus two absolutely amazing teachers. Nothing but negatives about our younger kid’s elementary experience - hoping middle school will be better. |
Oh- except Bond Mill is Howard County. |
Oh- maybe there is more than one. Bond Mill Elementary School 16001 Sherwood Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707 is PGCPS. |
You're right- I was thinking about Laurel Woods. Sorry! |
| In Bethesda we always hear people say they love Bannockburn, Carderock, Bradley Hills. Sometimes Bethesda. Wood Acres, Ashburton, Wyngate parents are more indifferent maybe because they are larger schools. |
I’m so happy to hear that you like Loiederman! |
| LOL it's hilarious that most of the replies in this thread have been people praising non-MCPS schools.... |
