| Another person was murdered in a parking garage in downtown Silver Spring this morning. Not a single elected official has made note of it. Is this level of violence acceptable? Are these lives all just expendable? |
| Terrible. I hope they’ve put up cameras since the last one. |
They got charged $2 to park there first too, right? |
| Can’t find this in the news. Do you have a link? |

Thanks. Not sure why that didn’t come up in my search. |

There’s been barely any acknowledgment from elected officials about recent crime (multiple shootings, multiple stabbings, assaults, assaults on police).
There has been a forum recently about reimagining policing, though. I suppose that’s what they’re doing: imagining policing isn’t necessary. |
We need to vote all these insane people out of office. Kristin Mink won't even acknowledge that the county is experiencing rising crime, for example. They're so clueless about how worried most people are right now about crime. |

Police say they received multiple calls about the shooting around 2:40 a.m. Must be fun to be at the garage at 2am in the morning. I wonder whether this person have paid to park. Probably not Rates: $1.00 per hour Hours Requiring Payment: Mon – Sat, 7 am - 10 pm |

The block of Georgia Ave near this garage is full of bars and nightclubs that are best avoided on weekend nights. There has been lots of violence from patrons of those establishments. Society in particular seems to be a big problem. For example:
https://patch.com/maryland/silverspring/silver-spring-shooting-result-altercation-police There does tend to be a heavy police presence around there because of all the issues. |
| Jesus. Sounds like we have a serial killer on our hands. |
Just stop. Someone was killed and you are making jokes about the county charging for parking. It’s gross and disrespectful. |
| Sorry to hear DTSS fell on hard times. I lived there for a few years in the mid 2000s. I found it convenient to my job on Capitol Hill. I also liked the variety of shops and restaurants in Ellsworth St, as well as the community's diversity. |

I'm really beginning to question the county leadership. Anyone with half a brain would know that if you built up DTSS to be a nice nightlife area, you'd need more police. Kind of like building Clarksburg without Town Center retail and proper sewer lines.
I'm not picking exclusively on the current council and executive -- this is over decades. We are educated and smart, but our leadership doesn't act like it. |
Silver Spring should incorporate as a city and bring decisions like law enforcement, safety, and economic development to a more local level. |
