I had an expensive package (a piece of technology I use for a hobby) delivered to the wrong address. It was delivered across the street instead of to our house. It was supposed to require signature but the package handler must have forged it. When the package never arrived I looked into the tracking and the picture it has with it matches the house across the street. In addition, we have on our ring camera a package being delivered at the same time as the time stamp on the delivery photo.
Friday, I knocked on the neighbor’s door and asked if I could grab it and thanked her for bringing it in. She denied having it and said she never brought it in. I told her we had it on camera and she just stood there with no emotion and said she had no idea what I’m talking about. First, where do I go from here? I’m not sure what a middle aged woman will do with a several motors and controllers for RC aircraft, so it’s not like it’s something she can wear/ use/ re-sell without knowing the niche market. Total value is about $375. |
| I would check the rest of the ring footage and watch for a package thief. |
| Show her the picture then if she denies ask for a refund because it was incorrectly delivered and neighbor will not return. |

You contact the seller and point out that it was neither your signature nor your house (maybe include photos. They should replace/refund the item since it wasn’t delivered to the right place through no fault of yours.
As for the neighbor— it’s weird for sure, but I’d highly recommend against re-engaging because an amicable solution is unlikely given their first response and it helps no one to have beef between neighbors. |
| Just go back to the seller and say it was misdelivered. |
| You gave her a chance. Now call the police and file a report, show them the footage. |
I have it on the camera her bringing it in approximately 2 hours after it was delivered. |
| This exact thing happened to me except it was from eBay so there was no delivery photo. But the tracking said the item was delivered. I contacted UPS and they got in touch with the driver. The driver said,"oh yeah, I handed that package to the elderly Asian gentleman who was outside doing yard work." I immediately knew it was delivered to my neighbors across the street. I knocked on the door and they denied having it. The UPS guy knocked on the door, and they denied having it. Weeks later, their adult son knocks on the door to hand me the package saying his father has dementia (he does). However, if he had not given it back, I could have filed a claim with UPS for compensation. If it's Amazon, they will send a new order for free. |
| You don’t know for sure that package was yours. |
|
Unfortunately it wasn’t Amazon. It’s a little niche online only store for RC airplane parts. Yes, I embrace how nerdy it is.
I don’t know if they’ll reimburse. |
Why should the seller have to pay for a thief???????
|
There is a time stamp from the delivery driver picture that matches the time stamp on the ring camera. No other packages were dropped off in the two hours between delivery and retrieval. So sure, it might not be mine but the odds sure are in my favor. |
The seller can take it up with the carrier and is the one responsible for insuring (or not) the package. It’s the delivery companies fault, but they usually require the seller to complain about it, not the recipient since they are the ones whose account it was sent under. |
LOL. If you see bunch of poorly made drones flying around next week, that's your answer.

Seller pays because item never arrived. |
