Favorite dessert to bring

Anonymous
Liking the favorite appetizer comments and would like some dessert ideas for outdoor pot luck with neighbors. I use to bring brownies or rice crispy treats but kids are older now and I need some new ideas. TIA!

A really good ice cream. Just keep it in your own freezer til last minute. It's a neighborhood gathering so that really works out.

Most of these are old-school but I rarely bring home anything but crumbles.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Snickerdoodles
Darn Good Chocolate Cake (search for it)
Pound Cake (with sugared fruit, if you're feeling fancy)
Key Lime Pie
Lemon Bars

Ice cream sandwiches!

Do slice and bake cookies and make larger and flat.

Scoop softened vanilla ice cream.

Roll in sprinkles.

Individually wrap in either aluminum foil or Saran wrap. Freeze for an hour.

Providing links to your favorite recipes would be nice as well. I Google a couple of these and variety of different recipes come back.

Oh my I wish I lived in your neighborhood for these potluck treats.

Would love all of these recipes but especially the blondie one.

Sorry, mine are not online. I didn't realize you were asking for the recipe as well.

Poor form to self-quote but can't edit the original.

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies (Toll House back-of-the-bag, queue the Friends episode!)

  • Snickerdoodles (https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/snickerdoodles/)

  • Darn Good Chocolate Cake (https://phxcooks.com/americas-test-kitchen-lemon-bars-recipe/) -- I don't make/use the ganache from this recipe and ours look a bit better than the photo on this link. If you're an Aldi's shopper, they sell all of the ingredients and we particularly like their chocolate chunks {rather than chips}]

  • Lemon Sour Cream Pound Cake** (with sugared fruit, if you're feeling fancy)

  • Key Lime Pie (https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/key-lime-pie.html) -- uses regular limes! {so please don't use bottled} and we rarely make the meringue topping

  • Lemon Bars (https://phxcooks.com/americas-test-kitchen-lemon-bars-recipe/)

  • ** I failed to include "lemon and sour cream" and am struggling to find an online version with our exact specs/proportions. I'll look more later or type it in if you're still interested. What's odd is, the recipe was my family's recipe box (now that's Old School!) but I have two different friends who have the exact same recipe from their families -- and we are all from very different backgrounds (Manhattan, Southern Louisiana/Cajun, and 1st Gen Immigrant).

    ^^

The Darn Good Chocolate Cake link is incorrect. Here's the right one:

https://apassionateplate.com/2020/03/30/darn-good-chocolate-cake/ and originally came from Anne Bryn.

LOL....I was in the same boat but able to find many of them online.

Over the years, I've been slowly typing them up, printing out on 8.5" x 11", and throwing them in sheet protectors (sometimes with a .jpg of/or the original recipe card/magazine clipping). DC have asked for their "own" 3-ring binder when they head off to college sooner rather than later. I'd have thought they wanted the electronic copies (and they'll get those too!) but they insist the paper version is better to have when actually making it since, when they were younger, the kitchen was a bit of a mess and they didn't want to risk getting splatter on their tablets/phones.

Paula Deen’s recipe for banana pudding is always a huge hit. I mean people LOVE it.

People of all ages like Brownies and Rice Krispies treats! At least this 50-something does. You could also bring jazzed up versions like the RK version upthread.
