MIL keeps pressuring DH to go in hot tub

| We’re currently on vacation with ILs at a lake house. When ILs booked the rental, MIL was super excited about the fact that it has a hot tub. However, DH and I are currently TTC, and we’ve read studies that show that going in a hot tub can decrease your sperm count for up to three months, so DH doesn’t want to go in the hot tub. However, MIL keeps pressuring him to go in, despite him saying no over and over. This is weird, right? |

But it’s also worth bearing in mind that when we enter the waters of a Jacuzzi whatever we have on our skin we deposit into the warm water swirling around us. This includes the 100mg or so of feces that is usually present between our buttock cheeks. This means that while you’re relaxing in the hot tub’s warm water, you’ll likely breathe in or swallow your Jacuzzi partner’s body’s bacteria, viruses and fungi. |

| You don't owe an explanation, but could be helpful to empathize with MIL. She was very excited about the hot tub and wants to enjoy it with her guests. Showing appreciation for the thoughtfulness she put into choosing the rental could go a long way to keep things friendly. |

| Jacuzzis are low brow. MIL is old school and thinks there’re “fancy.” Share the straight up facts. Tell her stocked wine cellars are all the rage now in lakeside rentals. It’ll keep her busy in off season, and maybe you’ll get lucky next year! |
