Top 10 private schools that send most students to Ivy League colleges and universities: (pt1)
Do you know anyone who attends the schools? Any surprises? https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtfbSYHLu5-/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== |
No surprises here. Will Sidwell and Bullis be in part two?? |
Dalton? |
Summary for those of us not on IG? |
Not even close. 6 out of the 10 are in New York City, 3 are in Massachusetts, and 1 in New Hampshire. DC privates are legends in their own minds. They do not compare to NYC privates. |
I'm only seeing 6-10?? |
yes, except for Sidwell. |
Who uses instagram? |
Can someone explain what is better about the NY privates without using circular logic? |
the top 5 are in a different post on the same Instagram account. -Trinity School, NY - 40% students go Ivy -Collegiate School, NY - 40% students go Ivy -Brearly School, NY - 37% students go Ivy -Horace Mann School, NY - 36% students go Ivy -Roxbury Latin School, MA - 36% students go Ivy To be fair - this list is only about which schools sent the highest percent of kids to Ivy's (that's 8 colleges). Any reasonable human knows that this doesn't necessarily make them the best schools and that there are over 3500 colleges in this country so defining a school by how many kids get into 8 colleges is a little ridiculous. |
Wealth in NYC is on a very different level than DC. These NYC families and kids are much more hooked in comparison to the DC privates. |
It's not necessarily that they are better. Just better known. And full of ultra wealthy families who can pay any tuition anywhere. I've known both faculty and students at each of these schools over the years. They are all serious pressure cookers. |
^^ exactly. The wealth and networking are more concentrated than in most other cities except maybe LA. They donate and meet one another and scratch one another's backs more easily. Plus, more legacies. This whole list is idiotic. The Ivies are different from one another and there are tons of other amazing schools, as well as many good ones. This is just someone stirring up clicks. |
Trinity grad here. It wasn’t all that and if I lived in NYC there’s no way I would send my kids there. |
Stop this madness. There are those of us who send kids to private because we can afford it and it’s easier than the crazy Publix. I agree to the point that the Ivy League path is no longer there. I myself went through private and to an IV and I see a huge difference. The better guarantee for Ivey is public but the better guarantee for sanity in grade K through 12 is private. |
