Where is Dr. Liza Burrell-Aldana going? |
What do you know? |
Wow! |
Arlington |
Wow, that was a carefully written resignation. Lots of subtext. |
Source? |
You have to wonder if all these leadership departures are a sign of no confidence in the new superintendent selection. |
I am so sad about this. I heard at least two of the first grade teachers are leaving too. Ugh. |
Master class-level writing. |
I don't think it's Arlington. She hasn't been confirmed by the SB. |
What subtext? It’s straightforward. She’s leaving to start a new chapter. End of story. |
I am not surprised by this. Her stock seems to be rising this year (see the WaPo award).
I am of mixed opinions about her. I think she cares deeply for the students, but anytime we had issues with staff, she always tried to avoid talking to us. Fortunately the staff there is pretty darn good, and we had issues with only one or two of them (and one left). I believe she buys into the whole equity thing just like Hutchings. She had a very difficult school, with high FARMS and ELL and many facility challenges, but her “success” may be overblown in my opinion. Many students are still underperforming. Remember she worked under Balas, so I won’t be surprised if she pops up in APS. I will say that under her leadership at MVCS they did not have the staff turnover and vacancies many other schools struggled with. It will be interesting to see who they get to replace her. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jen Hamilton return, and I don’t think that would be a terrible choice. |
Here's the ACPS apologists/PTAC-er/Alexandria establishment coming in to try to control what people are thinking and saying. It's not the end of the story. It's strange and people get to talk about that if they want to. |
MVCC has a 53% proficiency rate in reading. For economically disadvantaged kids it's 25%. In math its 46% and 20% for economically disadvantaged kids. What was the criteria for the award? |
