Anyone travel to/from Europe and NOT get covid? If so - where?

And did you take any precautions like masking on flights, not eating indoors, masking indoors there or was it more a roll of the dice that worked out?

Any places in Europe that are still covid cautious and/or where it'd be easier to avoid it than other places? I'm guessing a rainy week in Ireland makes it easier to catch bc you'll mostly be indoors.

Went to Italy last spring, took virtually no precautions, including not masking on the plane. We went to churches, restaurants, shops, grocery stores, never wearing masks unless absolutely required. Most Italians were done with masking over a year ago, both in the city and rural. I still have yet to get covid.

And that was when we had to test to return back to the US. I traveled with some family/friends, and everyone was negtive.

Traveled to Italy last month. Masked in the airport and most of the flight, but that’s basically it. Was ok. Flew to France last July, masked in airports, flights and transit in general, as well as inside shops in Paris. Again fine.

I have not. But if you want to minimize your chance of covid, the key is to kn95 or n95 and wear glasses/other eye protection on the plane and other indoor places. Of people I know who have travelled to Europe or Hawaii, at least half that I know of came back with covid.

This is the opposite of what you are asking, but I was in Spain, Italy and France recently and I got COVID for the first time, despite wearing a mask on the planes and trains, and mostly eating outdoors. I didn't mask indoors at shops and museums, but I don't at home either.

Our close friends just got back from Germany and Switzerland, and they also got COVID on their trip.

I'm telling you this because I think my genuine advice would be if you are concerned, you should not go because it will stress you out. I was the only one masked on the plane and did not see more than 1-2 masks the entire trip, with many people openly sick.

Went to Portugal in April and took zero precautions, did not return with Covid. I didn’t see masks on most people.

Amsterdam, France and Spain - did not get COVID. Masked on the planes (other than when eating) for both trips, didn't mask otherwise except for at two very crowded museums. Ate both indoors and outdoors.

I thought this was a revived zombie thread from 2021! There are completely full 747s landing in dc from Dulles every day and the majority of those people don’t have Covid. How is this even a question?

Exactly.

I started traveling in Dec 2020 and have been all over the world many times. No COVID, no masks. So ridiculous to still be restricting yourself.

+1
So bizarre. You may catch it, you may not - anywhere in the world. It’s just a bad cold at this point. Live your life.

On my last European flight, the guy in the seat in front of me on the plane was loudly coughing and sneezing the entire flight, including standing in the aisle to hack harder. No mask, not even covering his mouth consistently. I wore a mask the entire time but still got sick afterward. There’s only so much you can do.

Italy at Christmas -- we masked on the flight and on trains, but not really anywhere else. (Including the very crowded Uffizi Gallery, since we had forgotten our masks.) We did not get COVID -- but nor did we encounter anybody who was clearly sick.

Some friends recently had a similar experience. Covid was very mild, though, at least.

Greece, Spain, Italy. We did get Covid in either Iceland or Ireland, no one was masking and the weather wasn’t conducive to outdoor dining. This was last summer.

I fly to England every six months and I have never had Covid.
