Seriously this is the stupidest argument sent out to parents today. Alexandria can't have more than one school because to do so otherwise would be racist. I am just so confused about how all other school districts in the country manager to have more than one high school without being racist?!

You lost. Get over it. |
It’s a ridiculous argument. By that logic, we should have multiple middle schools or elementary schools.
“By 2025, ACPS anticipates there will be 5,000 high school students.” Yet, we will still be stuck with a single high school for a student body the size of a small college. |
Made a typo above:
*shouldn’t have |
No they are currently building a 2nd giant highschool 2 blocks away as part of the "campus". They will have 2 9-12th grade highschools so why oh why can't ACPS they separate it and have two principals and schools! |
According to ACPS, the “Connected High School Network or CHSN” and the adopted “Pinwheel Concept” will make the one-high-school-two-campuses work for the benefit of the city.
The majority voted for that so that’s how it’s going to be. |
Press release all about the new high school by the architect perkins eastman: https://www.perkinseastman.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Perkins-Eastman-Press-Release_Alexandria-City-High-School-tops-out.pdf |
If you remember correctly the majority did not vote in favor. Parents overwhelming supported two highschools. |
Why will the highschool have an early childhood center? |
Early childhood education is a popular career choice. Students can then work in the field straight out of high school. |
Most of the high schools in Montgomery County have that. |
We’re not white, but there was a Disney movie about it and our liberal white betters said it was so, so it is.
Of course the real problem with ACPS isn’t the high school, it’s actually the middle schools. That’s the drop off. |
So the girls who have babies can get free childcare and actually finish school and students who won’t go on to college can have career options when they graduate. |
I genuinely think that one reason the city & SB want to keep one single HS is for athletics. With a school twice (?) the size of others in NoVa, they’ve got a nice deep bench to pull from. |
It sure is easier to win state championships competing against schools with a talent pool one third smaller. For many families and politicians in Alexandria that may very well be a valid reason and there’s no shame in admitting to it. It’s one way to burnish the Titan Hollywood legacy and state championships are a source of city pride. |
