Movies that don’t age well and you wouldn’t show your children

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (dugout scene where under age student has sex with a man)

Others.

Seven brides for seven brothers. But I’d still let them watch just for the barn raising scene alone. Don’t take yourself so seriously!

The old James Bond movies. I loved them as a kid, but now they’re so blatantly sexiest i just can’t do it.
I also loved the TV show Chips. Can’t let my kid watch that for the same reason.

Oof. Yeah.

Not even for the prostitution…just for Mickey Rooney.

Revenge of the Nerds

The Toy (Richard Pryor)

16 Candles - one of my favorites back in the day but really really did not age well

Little Mermaid

My kids HAVE seen many of these, but you know what? They think they’re lame. The film quality is grainy. The characters are weird. Plot lines stupid.

Most of them?

Really we should make a list of movies that DID age well. It would be much shorter.

I don’t think that the only art or entertainment fit for consumption is that which meets some narrow set of political or moral criteria. So, I’d let them watch pretty much anything (excluding the obvious, ie truly obscene material, pornography, etc).

Basically everything I watch again with my kids that I loved as a kid. Different times in the 80s.
