I don't think there's anything wrong at all with showing kids movies made during a different time. It shows how things have changed (or not). I mean, I watched Dirty Dancing when I was 11 and abortions were legal. I learned a lot about what it was like before they were legal from watching and talking to my mom and dad, and grandma. In my 20's, I caught an episode of Leave it to Beaver and my dad and I talked about all the differences between then and "now".

Beside the nude scenes, what’s wrong with 16 Candles? The Donger?

Ace Ventura. We thought it would be dated and stupid, but funny. Instead, there was a lot of cringworthy homophobia and transphobia.

Um, the main love interest giving away his drunk girlfriend to a kid who did him a favor so the kid can rape her?

I like to remind my kids it was a PG movie when it came out. They love that.

I agree 100%. As long as they are old enough/mature enough to understand it, I think it's good for kids to have context in regards to societal changes.
