Small victories!

I've posted before on how I gained roughly 30 pounds due to an injury and hormonal treatment over the past few years. It's the heaviest I've ever been, slightly less than when pregnant with multiples!

So I upped my step game to consistently 10K+/day as opposed to the more variable before. I didn't embark on a specific diet, but have cut down, though not eliminated, carbs and sugar. My alcohol intake is not excessive so I've left as is. I'm down ten pounds, but know the next twenty will be the hardest. Losing the ten not making a noticeable difference in appearance, but still very helpful for the mindset.

Frankly, the past few years have not been easy, but being depressed about the weight gain now edging out the sadness of other life changes - and the modest weight loss has been a morale and spirit boost!

I'm curious how quickly you lost the initial 10. I'm stuck in a rut of loosing a few then gaining it all back plus a bit more again and again and again...

So that's taken a bit, about a month or so. FWIW, I think I lost the first five because of change of seasons, more activities, etc. Once I picked up on that, then I started focusing by revving up activity and reducing intake. Again, I think the next 20 are going to be a lot harder. Whenever I've tried to lose weight before, I can peel off some, but to really get where I want to be involves some anxiety-inducing event where I basically stop eating. And I don't see that on the horizon.

Thanks! Your comment about the anxiety-inducing event made me smile. I feel like most of life's stresses lead to me overeating. I know I'm in trouble when the stress is so much I stop! Ha ha. Good luck.

Thanks! While I don’t think I’m necessarily prone to overeating, I really wasn’t mindful to what I was consuming the last few years, especially carbs. And TBH, I probably ate out of “boredom” more than usual.

When the stress really sets in, I don’t realize I’ve cut consumption until I notice some give in the waist band!

Then I put a half pound back on! The daily check was motivating me in the beginning, but perhaps I should dial back to less frequent. What do others here do?
