Math and ELA placements in 4th grade

Any rising 4th graders have received any info regarding this yet? When to expect this?

When we got ours (a couple of years ago), it did not come until after school was out. You could ask your child's 3rd grade teacher.

We had received ELA notice a few weeks ago, and just received the math placement today via email from the principal.

Which elementary school?

Do you get the notification regardless of which class you are placed in? Or do u only get it if you are placed in compacted math and elc?

I'm the poster from above that received compacted math placement via email today. My DC didn't get into ELC, and we were notified by MCPS via letter.

Yep...DC got compacted math. Not sure which score was used, but spring map-m was 226.

Yep...DC got compacted math. Not sure which score was used, but spring map-m was 226.

Thanks. Seems the cutoff might be quite high.. above 95th percentile?

Students selected or not selected for CES were notified by MCPS when the results were made. Students in the CES lottery but not selected are automatically included in ELC. Others are included based on decision at their individual school. Notification of this will vary by school.

If any questions, ask you school(ie Admin, Reading Specialist or Gifted Specialist)

I think 95th percentile is generally a good gauge of being admitted into ELC and CM. Anything below, it would depend on the individual home school (space available, local norms). But check with your school about their specific criteria.
