https://www.vox.com/2023/5/17/23725952/ron-desantis-immigration-law-florida Next up Texas. Why would anyone vote for republicans. |
| Awesome! That’s great for workers. |
???? Are you a wealthy business owner by chance? Worker shortages are great. |
You going to start working the fields???? |
Oh yeah I love having no one to grow food and build houses. It's the best. |
| Man, when did Dems become such simps for the rich? |
+1 Republicans have worked at twin goals for decades: denigrating immigrants as “stealing our jobs” while simultaneously weakening worker protections, wrecking unions and preventing any kind of legislation regulating pay. They’re going to reap what they have sown. Regretfully, at least in terms of food, the rest of the country is going to reap it, too, in a classic case of getting what some other fool voted for. |
Sorry, you can’t get cheap illegal slave labor anymore. |
Dems? The bottom line is that limiting immigration is bad for the economy. And it is mostly republican business owners who employ undocumented workers. There is a reason the GOP political class is against eVerify. |
“signed a week ago by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, which mandates that businesses with 25 or more employees verify the citizenship status of workers through the federal online portal E-Verify or face stronger penalties, among other new restrictions” |
| Wonder what the wait times will be at beach restaurants? DeSantis is killing Florida. |
|
Ummm, wrong. Florida has had a massive inflow of people moving there from blue states. Keep up, grandma. |
Good for wages. Bad for profit. Rich man win. |
Doesn’t mean he’s not killing the state, grandpa. Florida also had the largest natural decrease, i.e. death, in 2022. |
