There is only one Heather Locklear. Although actress and model Ava Locklear Sambora is beautiful!

I sort of hate you for making me click through all of this - but also it's really amazing to see how glamorous the moms look. I guess makeup and hair was very different in a lot of these cases - more natural smiles and lighting, too, I think.

Oh FFS how stupid.

She took more of her father’s facial features and not Heather’s.

I always think this when I watch movies from the 40s and the 50s. Women as young as 23-25 just look so so poised and polished and glamorous. I think it's the posture, speech, clothes hair and makeup all rolled into one!

I am PP - and for me this is so different from movies from the 40s and 50s! (Though my lord were women glamorous there, too.) Here it's more the 70s, 80s, and 90s. They have wild hair and big smiles, and just look like they are actually having fun. It's one of the things that looks so sad in photos of young people, today - they looks so uptight. Overly sexualized (but not actually having sex), overly made up, and then taking just constantly taking photos instead of enjoying their young lives. I'm sure they're having a better time than I realize. It was - of all people - the photo of Kris Jenner smiling, with the pic of Kim K at the same age, that really drove that home for me. Kris just looked free in a different way than Kim did.

But yeah the women in movies in the 40s and 50s are amazing looking.

Me again - and (because now I can't stop clicking) it's clearly not true across the board. A lot of the kids look fantastic, and look like normal people. It probably is just mostly me being an old and liking styles better from when I was young.

But still, like it's just striking to look at how natural Lisa Rinna (! - not known for looking natural!!) looks here compared to her kids

Kelly Ripa was unrecognizable to me in her "youth" photo

It's amazing how much less natural people look in their 20s now than 20+ years ago.

I hate that this is a “who wore it better” kind of thing. Why does it have to some kind of weird competition between the moms and daughters?

This hair is impressive! How does it stay like that? They must have had better hair spray.

It's fun to see the family resemblance. I didn't know some of these famous mom-daughter pairings like Jayne Mansfield and Mariska Hargitay or Dianne Ladd and Laura Dern (may just be showing my age).

Hot rollers, gel or mousse, and lots of back-combing / teasing. Then hardhat level of hairspray.

Those styles could withstand a hurricane, but they were a real bear to wash and comb out afterward, and horrible for hair condition.

Much better hairspray - and you'd use a half a can of it at a time!
