Is anyone following the new FL immigration law? I started seeing on TikTok last night, but didn't really hear anything on any other sites..

Looks like a great plan. Other governors should have their legislatures enact similar laws.
If Biden refuses to enforce the border, drastic measures need to be taken. State governors need to do what they can to deal with the illegal immigration caused by this administration. Every state has become a border state. |
Good luck going order your burger or getting any garden work done... |
good luck with your maid too, I don't know if my maid is legal or not never asked her. |
LOL. Some of us clean our own houses and do our own yard work. You folks truly live in a bubble. |
Good luck with your roofers, home reno workers, lawn service, tree service, restaurant and fast food workers, home health care workers for the elderly, nursing home workers, produce pickers, seafood processors, meat packing workers, public restroom cleaners, and workers who do every shitty job Americans don’t want to do. |
Trump and his hotels don't. They use(d) illegal immigrants. |
medicaid is a federal program. How can he force hospitals that accept medicaid to ask citizenship questions?
Cubans are the worst hypocrites here. A lot of them came here illegally. How do you prove someone lost a job due to HxxB worker? I guess those high tech companies in FL who use HxxB workers will either leave or offshore even more work. |
Our policies continue to screw low wage African Americans. and we have known this for decades. people need good jobs to thrive in our capitalism The 1980-2000 immigrant influx, therefore, generally 'explains' about 20 to 60 percent of the decline in wages, 25 percent of the decline in employment, and about 10 percent of the rise in incarceration rates among blacks with a high school education or less Almost everybody knows that in the past 40 years, the real wages and job prospects for low-skilled men, especially low-skilled minority workers, have fallen. And there is evidence, that a rising tide of immigration is to blame. Now, a new NBER study suggests that immigration has more far-reaching consequences than merely depressing wages and lowering employment rates of low-skilled African-American males: its effects also appear to push some would-be workers into crime and, later, into prison. https://www.nber.org/digest/may07/effects-immigration-african-american-employment-and-incarceration |
Don’t be so naive to fall for republican propaganda When the supply of workers goes up, the price that firms have to pay to hire workers goes down. Wage trends over the past half-century suggest that a 10 percent increase in the number of workers with a particular set of skills probably lowers the wage of that group by at least 3 percent. Immigration redistributes wealth from those who compete with immigrants to those who use immigrants—from the employee to the employer. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/09/trump-clinton-immigration-economy-unemployment-jobs-214216/ |
You know what? I live in a rural community. All of the people I hire and who work at local businesses are actually NOT illegal migrants. They are born and bred American workers. It is refreshing. We have many lawn service professionals, roofers, tree service professionals, and fast food workers who were born and raised in this area. Glad to give them the work. Why would I hire an illegal migrant to roof my home? Are they bonded? Do they have insurance? Likely no. Why would I hire someone here illegally to do any kind of work around my home if they can't speak English well enough to communicate? I am all for a guest worker program, but I am vehemently opposed to the employment of people here illegally. |
dp.. you know what.. most people don't live in rural areas, and even Trump's hotels use illegal immigrant labor, as do many R owned businesses in FL. |
Republican propaganda? Everything you wrote contradicts what the Democrats have been telling us. |
Well, they will just need to start finding citizens or legal residents to do the work. I can't believe anyone would knowingly hire someone here illegally. Is the cheaper worker really worth a possible lawsuit down the road? If you hire someone here illegally to cut your dead tree down, and they have a bad fall.... guess who they come after to get compensation. |
In our household, those are our kids. |
