Air fryer slander

Do you not have an oven? Are you trying to clutter up more countertop space? Why have so many people fallen for this?

I have many kitchen gadgets but this one seems silly.

Of course it’s just a convection oven, but people like them because they heat up quickly and since they’re contained, they’re easier to clean than a big oven.

It’s the same reason people like having a toaster even though they have an oven and a broiler already.

My oven heats my entire kitchen (which is small) and takes a longer time to roast veggies, which is what I use my air fryer for the most.

Why...do you care??

I guess you haven’t had the pleasure of delicious garlicky cauliflower that takes 10 minutes to make without heating up my entire kitchen and comes out perfectly. I, too, was once a non-believer. No longer.

We have a combination toaster over, air fryer, and we make almost everything in it unless we are having a big meal. Doesn’t heat up the whole kitchen. Cooks quickly for whiny children. We store all of the other appliances and switched from
An espresso machine to a stovetop espresso (moka pot). We do consider getting rid of the microwave, tho.

An air fryer is the only small applicant we have in our kitchen. It makes quick meals faster and better than any other method, esp frozen food like chicken nuggets, roasted veg, and fish. We don’t have a microwave and don’t miss it - we reheat everything in the fryer. Toast is made in oven under broiler

Mine is a game changer! We have multiple sports in the evenings and I can cook a meal in 25 mins, no preheat necessary.

But go on with your crock pot.

Do you have any recipes (or recipe resources) you’d share ?

How do you make microwave popcorn or heat up milk/hot water? This is what stops us from getting rid of the microwave.

I was a non-believer too, until I actually started cooking with one. The results ours (Cosori, large model with basket) can achieve are much better than what the convection oven can manage. The hot air is much more concentrated around the food because the fan is effective at heating the entire space. Also, it allows all the moisture and fat to collect under the vented surface the food is on, which would be a giant mess in a traditional oven.

We use ours for everything: to toast bagels, reheat pizza, bake broccoli, make burger patties...I've been really surprised by how much we use it.

It's so much easier to deal with it when making food for a person or two. I can roast veggies, bake chicken/fish, and so on, without taking 15 minutes to heat up an oven, and then another 20-30 minutes or more to cook.
