Ordering food from Ghost Kitchens

Anonymous
The things you learn while Doordashing. Ghost Kitchens, started during the pandemic, still exist.

For instance, I was sent a delivering from Maggiano’s Classics. My pick up was at a local Chili’s.

Same place I was sent for Just Wild Wings.

Yesterday in the mid afternoon I picked up a MrBeast burger from a Buca di Beppo.

The customers never knew the kitchen, they just ordered on the app and name your delivery service brought them a meal.

Did you know about ghost kitchens?

Yes, there were articles about them in the WP + NYT during the pandemic.

Calm down op. Is there a problem?

Yes this is not a new thing. Also maybe don’t eat that stuff as much as you do!

So someone ordered from Maggiano Classic and Buffalo Wild Wings but got food ghost kitchened at a Chilis?? But branded with the original order box?

That’s kinda shady. I always assumed ghost kitchens were basically made to order for online only brands or food trucks looking for extra capacity. If I’m ordering from a relatively upmarket place like Maggiano, and paying said prices, I would not want a Chilis prepping it. Or even a rando ghost kitchen contracted out.

The problem is that they aren't being inspected by the Department of Health, and aren't held to any health standards.

Yes they are. They are just making the food in a chilis or other option.

Wut? Maggiano is on par with Bucca di Beppo, Wild Wings, Olive Garden, and Chili's. Maybe not 25 year ago, but now? Definitely. It's all pre-made food reheated.

Not true at all. Ghost kitchens are still licensed commercial kitchens

OP is a DoorDash driver, not ordering takeout every night!

People who order this food have no standards. It could be made in the sewers for all they care. Chilis, Maggianos, whatever. Microwaved crap.

We don't use these types of delivery services often, so could someone explain it more to me? So a Mr. Beast burger is being made at a kitchen in a Bucca di Beppo restaurant?
