I enjoy fashion but most of these ridiculous getups just give me Hunger Games party in the capital vibes.

I generally love the absurdity of the Met gala outfits, and think many are swoon worthy in most years. That said, I am scrolling through the full list of 70+ attendees and have these thoughts:

- who are all these people? I recognize maybe one out of every seven names.

- Karl lagerfeld is just not my thing. These outfits are very late 90s, but just very boxy, black and white and dull. When I think of some get ups in past years, this just seems so prom 1996 to me, in an uninspired way.

Oh I like this, want to see the full thing.

Most of what I have seen looks unusually boring this year. You can only look at so many black and white outfits incorporating the same few elements (pearls, lace, flowers) before it's a big yawn. But Hathaway is the only one I've seen wearing that Chanel tweed, only reimagined in a very Lagerfeld-esque way as evening wear with some risqué elements. And her hair and makeup is exciting in context, even if it's just Amy Winehouse drag.

Ashely Park (Mindy from Emily in Paris) looks great -- that dress is amazing on her and I love the gloves:

I don't know who Grace Elizabeth is, but this is a very pretty dress that really stands out for being one of the handful of people who didn't go with black/white/nude for this one. The fabric piecing/tone on tone selection is really amazing artisanship. One of the things I like about the Met Gala is that it's often a chance to see really amazing couture with fantastic craftsman ship (thinking of Rhianna's yellow cape or pretty much everything that got worn during the "Heavenly Bodies" year). This is a nice example of that on a person I've never heard of:

Amanda Siefried is my favorite nude dress so far -- she looks AMAZING and confident and kudos to her personal trainer:
