I just ate a giant piece of chocolate cake

And now I hate myself and feel ill and wish I didn’t. I want to lose weight but I can’t stop doing things like this no matter how many times I try swearing it off.

I just made a mango mousse cake for my child's birthday, after making a strawberry mousse cake for other child's birthday last week... after eating a whole lot of chocolate for my birthday last month.

Yes, it's really hard to reduce calories, OP!

It’s cold, it’s raining and it’s a Friday night. Give yourself a break. Relax and think about how good it tasted. Don’t eat cake every day and you are fine. Tomorrow is a new day.

OP, I know how you feel. I hope it helps to know that when I read your thread title, my initial thoughts were:

Good for you!
Oh man, I’d love a piece of chocolate cake
Life is better with chocolate cake

And not to go too deep, but I recently visited my husband’s aunt before she died. She’d been a vibrant, healthy woman and was constantly doing the “I should lose 10 pounds” shuffle for the entire 10 years I knew her. Sadly, after a very long battle with cancer, we both knew it was the last visit. She was rail thin, and as we were sitting together, she nudged me and said, “Well hey, I beat my goal weight.” She was funny and I really think she was also trying to tell me something, woman to woman. Enjoy the cake. Enjoy your life.

I just ate a huge ice cream sundae. It was delicious and I think everyone deserves a treat especially at the end of a week!

I wanted some. If you had given me half then you wouldn't feel so guilty and I would not be so sad. The least you can do is savor that chocolately icing melting on your mouth and the texture of the moist chocolate 🎂 cake.

You are fine. I've lost 30 lbs since Oct. And every month I allow myself a decadent dish. I don't buy it to bring home but go to a restaurant and indulge. Only treat I have at home is fruit.

More importantly, where is the cake from? Asking for a friend.

Thanks for reminding me I have nothing good for dessert tonight.

I can never stop eating a choc cake if anyone has ideas I would love to hear it as well!

Hi op, I wish you wouldn't hate yourself for that! But I've been there too. The thing that I have done is to start eating things like that a lot slower than I used to. A lot. I pay attention to every bite, I don't play on my phone or watch tv when I eat that kind of thing. Though sometimes I am talking to family or friends, and that's ok. Showing down allows me to really enjoy the dessert. To appreciate the taste and the texture. But it actually also allows me to stop earlier than when I eat if fast. Because if I'm actually tasting the cake then it's sweet enough after awhile. I'll never be a "just take one bite and throw it out" kind of person. But I've gone from being a shove a huge piece of cake in my mouth really fast and regretting it to someone who eats half, maybe 2/3? And really really enjoys and appreciates it.

Well if it makes you feel better, I was using a welder a few days ago and breathed in some metal fumes. Have felt like crap the last few days. I wish I had only eaten some chocolate cake.
