What are these schools doing!

My DD said her school had therapy alpacas and rabbits today. What is the point of this???!!! Kids should be learning in school. This is what the state of FCPS. In the name of equity they're destroying learning. School isnt supposed all sunshine and bright and colorful like these people make it out to be.

Sounds like you would be happier with homeschool or a military program.

I assure you an opt out form was sent home and you could have made sure your child did not participate.

It's during lunch, so students are not missing class. It introduces a little joy in the kids' lives. How is this about "equity"? I'm so sick of people $hitting on everything FCPS does. Maybe you should pet a llama -- maybe it will bring some joint you, too.

My DD's HS didn't. Thank god she's graduating in a few weeks.

I would be thrilled if the school brought animals for kids to pet who would like to--it adds a bit of joy to the day and gives a connection to animals. These are things kids remember from school.

Please stop fussing, little llama. No more of this llama drama.

Why is this so upsetting to you? Relax.

My children would LOVE this.

I would totally take animals over kids beating the tar out of each other in the hallway. Which school has the animals? We can switch our kids!

“Stress less” week and our middle school offered things. Last year dogs came.

It is testing time. Kids are stressed. I would LOVE for schools to have care taking of animals/gardening as part of the curriculum. It would help in many ways: contributing to the community, giving kids stress relief, teaching kids to care about the environment, learning about life cycles, learning empathy and behavior.
Laugh away OP, I know it won’t ever happen, but 4H stuff is cool and should be for everyone.

What does this have to do with equity, OP? You sound unhinged.

NP.

Um, maybe because it costs a lot, and we are all paying for this ridiculous “equity theater?”

I thought it was OK to just rename a dozen FFX schools. Then I learned it costs $500,000 to $1,000,000 to rename. PER SCHOOL. That money would buy a lot of laptops, library books, or pay teacher salaries (maybe even reduce class sizes??).

So sick of the woke school administrators wasting money like this, while simultaneously whining about lack of funds for basic education.

How cute!!!

I entirely support this.

It’s starting to get into high gear for SOLs, AP/IB exams, and soon finals. A little stress relief is good for the kids. Stress less, laugh more week isn’t taking away from teaching time.
