What are some healthy foods you eat to up your fiber? I'm a 45 year old woman and after tracking my nutrition for a couple weeks, I'm often low in this area. Some days I hit my 25 grams, especially if I have a bean-based dinner, but lots of days I'm not there.
What are your go-to foods that keep your fiber count where it should be? |
Whole grain bread, oatmeal, vegetables, and walnuts. Chia seeds. |
Fiber One bars, mini wheat cereal (I eat it dry), and prunes/berries/apples
Are you looking to make pooping easier or is this solely a nutritional thing? If it's a pooping thing, caffeine helps. And a ton of water. |
Trader joes high fiber cereal in my yogurt. I prefer the TJ brand to fiber one. |
raspberries in a smoothie |
If you don’t shave an issue I’d just eat a good balance of foods and not worry about it |
Mango! |
I keep the double chocolate Fiber One bars on hand for days I'm low.
other than that, the basics like apples, chia seeds (chia pudding is delicious!), nuts, broccoli, beans, etc. |
Chick Peas |
Berries, dark chocolate, Ezekiel bread, RX bars, green beans, asparagus, avocado, sweet potato… |
You already eat beans sometimes so make them a part of your life! I keep a bean salad around a lot of the time, like a cowboy caviar. It’s easy to have a little half cup scoop at breakfast, lunch and dinner and over the day that’s 9-21 grams of fiber, depending on the bean you use.
Either that or this: https://www.mynewroots.org/site/2013/02/the-life-changing-loaf-of-bread/ It’s “bread” like so many holistic foods are what they claim to be, but it is fiber city. Add salt, for the love of Pete. It needs it. And it says “makes the best toast” - more like toasted is the only way to boost the flavor. |
Fiber is so easy to come by. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables, whole grains, beans and lentils, avocado. I prefer minimally processed food, so I stay away from things like high fiber bread and high fiber cereal. |
I just take fiber pills. 0 calories and works perfectly. |
I just eat sooo many vegetables. Like, what would seem enormous servings to most people. For example, I roast a head of cauliflower and DH and I split it. Or I eat a mixing-bowl sized salad that’s 95 percent spinach, plus bell peppers, some leftover roast veg, and an egg. I must be the most regular person on the planet. |
A heart healthy nut mix with walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, almonds and dried cranberries works wonders for me. Had constipation issues for years and this totally has changed that. |
