So skinny in the morning....bloated blob by late afternoon

Anonymous
I am quite satisfied with the way I look first thing in the morning, my stomach/abdomen looks flat and I feel generally thinner. But by 4 pm, it's a total bait & switch in the mirror! I am bloated from my bra strap down and look about 10 lbs heavier. Can anyone else identify with this? Is this just an old person thing, or a menopausal woman thing? Is it dietary? Is it something that can be remedied? Thanks!

Remedy: don't look in full-length mirrors after you get dressed in the morning.

I am in the same boat. It's awful and makes me avoid evening activities. I don't know what causes this. I am in my late 40s.

Are you drinking enough water? Are you constipated? It could certainly be dietary (wheat? dairy? sugar?), but you'd have to do an elimination diet or something to figure that out.

+1
to this.

Everyone weights more as the day goes on but you should not be bloated every day from eating and drinking. I only get bloated when i eat junk or too much salt, but that is not every day.

What are you eating before 4pm?

Possibly too many carbs and not enough water?

I drink lots of sparkling water throughout the day (so I don’t think I’m dehydrated), but it doesn’t feel like a gassy type of bloat.

My diet varies from salad, oatmeal, quinoa, salmon and veg, sometimes a bagel or toast. It doesn’t seem to change the afternoon bloat.

I guess I can try an elimination diet. And avoid full length mirrors 😉

Eliminate gluten for a couple months see what happens.

I think it's just the way some people's bodies are. It's called a food baby.

Sometimes, though, it could be backup of poop/gas.

Isn't this true for anyone who eats during the day?

Switch to still water

I think peri/ menopause definitely contributes

You are probably eating a lot of salt... I'd bet that quinoa, salad dressing, salmon and veggies have a lot of salt in them.

Grains. they hold water.

Go grain free for one week and see how you feel!

(Note -- I did not say carb free, just grain free esp. wheat and corn)
