Thoughts on the University of South Carolina?

DS loved his tour and is applying.

I would have said yes before driving through SC last month. Now it is an absolute, not under any circumstances, no.

Because of a bad experience in the state?

Several kids from my public FCPS high school went there the year I graduated, and it became even more of a trend the years following. I knew several girls who took advantage of the in-state tuition for majoring in a program that isn’t offered in our state.

My DD was accepted to JMU and SC -- both OOS from Maryland. Has not decided yet.

I know high stats kids who went there because they liked the international business program and also wanted an SEC sports school.

Liberal family, and thankfully none of our 3 wanted to attend any southern schools. Guess I'm a New England Elitist

This is horrifying. My DC said absolutely no to any southern school and from the previous thread and accounts in it I am glad!

My DD thought she wanted to attend, but was not wild about it after the tour. She noticed that no one was smiling and walking with friends. Virtually everyone was alone. I’m sure our tour was a small slice of what it is like there and our tour guide seemed very happy there.

As a parent paying for my DCs' colleges, there is no way my money is going to a Trump/Red state school. Personal preference.
