IMO, Sandy has run an honorable campaign and is not deserving of these attempts to smear her. No matter who she may or may not have voted for in the past, that's the past. I'm focused on who is best positioned to solve current and future problems of great significance to our children. That's why she's at the top of my still-not-totally-decided list. Honestly, I think we're above all of this negativity or we should try to be anyway. |
Has everyone gotten their ballots? Can you remember whether it came in first class or business class mail? |
NP. I just checked - her feed only goes back to May 2018. |
She's at the top of my list for now, but if she supported Trump in 2016 that is a serious deal-breaker for me because it shows extremely poor judgment. It's not "negativity", it's just looking at facts. |
OMG. You people spreading the rumor that Munnell voted for Trump are insane. It is things like this that make me not want to identify as a Democrat in Arlington. Even if she did vote for him, which I don't believe, 4 years have passed. I'm way more interested in what she brings to the school board in terms of knowledge, education, and experience, than whether she's a bona fide ACDC Dem or not. |
This smear of Sandy is crazy. Please look at her Twitter feed. She didn't start doing her own tweets until 2018, but she began "liking" tweets in January 2017. She "liked" tweets from the 2017 Women's March. She also "liked" a bunch of tweets that were critical of DeVos. She liked a tweet from Elizabeth Warren on January 17, 2017 where Warren states that DeVos has no experience in public education and is completely unqualified. There is no way Munnell voted for Trump. This is a stupid and baseless rumor. |
THIS. 1000%. |
How was that a "smear"? I just want to know the answer to the question that someone else posed earlier on this thread. The more I look the more it doesn't look likely, at least from her social media footprint. I like her posts on a feed that she did with W&L seniors. And it looks like she's been active in civic association work and supporting Vihstadt. Geez. We can't even ask questions anymore or try to find out facts? ![]() |
I want to like her because she is a retired teacher. But she seems out of touch and arrogant. She has few endorsers and couldn't even convince her former colleagues to support her. Whether that is because she is some Trumper or not, it doesn't tell me that she is good at building relationships. We need school board members who can work with the county board and state legislators. Times are going to be tough for APS next year. Actually, they already are. |
Did she also conspire with the Illuminati to develop the coronavirus from the basement of Comet Ping Pong? I mean, while we're throwing around baseless smears under the guise of "asking questions" and "trying to find out more facts," we might as well reach for our tin foil hats and go full QAnon, right? |
Exactly. This is so stupid. Trump didn’t even get all of the R votes in Arlington, he barely registered in the general election. And yet, this lady, who seems perfectly reasonable if not the right age/gender/ethnicity to be beyond suspicion supposedly cast one of those ballots? Come on. FFS, my neighbor who’s to the left of even AOC voted for Trump in the open primary as part of a “brilliant” strategy to select the weakest R candidate who’d be easier to beat in November 2016. In hindsight, was that stupid? Probably, but that doesn’t make him a Trump supporter. |
Sandy was endorsed by two current School Board members, who know better than most what the School Board job entails. Most of those other candidate endorsements are pointless. You think Cory Booker, for example, knows anything about what is involved with being on the Arlington County School Board? It sounds to me like the ACDC and the AEA are punishing Sandy for backing John Vihstadt for County Board. For whatever reason, that seems to be an unforgiveable sin among Arlington Democrats. They turned on Libby Garvey over it (she survived) and then they turned on Theo Stamos over it (she didn't). Even the way the ACDC is orchestrating this special election to fill Gutshall's seat with Barbara K is all a defensive play to try to block Vihstadt from running and winning. Once Vihstadt said he wasn't running, then ACDC was fine with a bunch of other new candidates entering the field. ACDC can't let go of a special election that happened six years ago. |
I'm not supporting Sandy, but I agree with you about Terron. He should spend less time attacking and seeking absurd endorsements and more time learning about APS if he wants to get elected. |
If your criteria = endorsed by two current school board members then your picks are Sandy (Barbara & Reid) and David (Nancy & Tannia). That's how I am voting. |
Given how much complaining there is on this board (and generally) about the School Board, its more likely that current SB endorsements might be a negative... |
