Trump - “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”

Which way is it going to be? Tell it like it and let it roll off your back, or be offended and whine all the time? Are we needing to have some reverse Political Correctness for not calling out racism for what it is. HYPOCRITES, dragging America and all our ideals down the toilet.

And by the way - all of you are from immigrant ancestors unless you are 100% Native American. I wish someone had restricted these people's ancestors' immigration back in the day.

Are you kidding me? Are you talking about liberals? I've never come across a more vile, nasty group of people in my life. The constant derision and putdowns - told to go to hell, labeled racists and morons, call a-holes (and worse) - is not treating fellow human beings, whose crime was nothing more than not voting for your candidate, with respect and decency.

I continue to be amazed as to how liberals see themselves as kind, decent people all the while they demonize and curse people who have different political preferences. Take a look in the mirror.

DP, but do you think the president is a racist? Honest question.

NP. Of course he is! To argue against it fails against all evidence.

Oh stop being disingenuous.

The president didn't say "there are serious problems in Hait and some African countries." If he had no one would have disagreed with that. Instead, he dismissed them with a vulgarity, and implied their inhabitants are not the sort of people we want in the US. Here's a hint: that's an insult.

How many Americans go ape-shit if people say anything negative about this country. How many times do you hear "leave this country if you don't like it" or "love it or leave it" or "my country right or wrong" -- just because someone dares to critique something about the US that can be improved?

Except that Trump, of course, can imply America's not great rignt now (MAGA) and these same people go wild with applause.

Ethiopia is a shithole. In fact the late Emperor Haile Selassie's head was stuff in a toilet full of shit when the opposition killed him. The Haitians and Africans posting on Facebook are defending the shithole countries they fled. Not disingenuous, simply reality. No one is leaving Norway because it's not a shithole. Few people immigrate from the US because it's not a shithold. Many people leave South Sunda, because it is a shithole Many people leave Equitorial Guinea because it is a shithole. If these places were so great, why would people leave them? No one can or will answer this question.

Spot-on. You're my new favorite poster.
We have friends who travel extensively throughout Europe. They were appalled by Trump's "shithole" comment, so we asked if they had ever considered traveling to Haiti or any African countries. Of course, their answer was no. "But why?" we asked. Crickets.

Has our education system really failed to this extent?

Trump implied that the people coming from these countries have something wrong with them. That is vicious and untrue.

Sadly yes, our education system has failed. The way racism supersedes basic critical thinking skills in the minds of so many proves that out.

Our educational system is strained to the point of failure in many places because of the extremely large numbers of students for whom we're trying to provide the needed education to attend college and/or technical training while also providing special needs services, breakfast/lunch/snacks/weekend backpacks, counseling, psychological evaluations, medical treatment, after school care, music and art opportunities, second language instruction, etc. IT IS EXPENSIVE.

And then add in the liberal fight to provide sanctuary for illegal immigrants, and we have some schools where 1/3 of the students are ESOL. That comes with big costs - both quantifiable and unquantifiable.

1/3 ESOL? Bailey's 65.48 English Learner and 71.9 FRPM. http://schoolprofiles.fcps.edu/schlprfl/f?p=108:13:::NO:0_CURRENT_SCHOOL_ID,P0_EDSL:103,0

Bailey's Upper School is over 68% LEP and 75.92% FRPM. The Minority Student Achievement 2017 report combines statistics on Black and Hispanic often combining white-Asian. Now when TJ is 75% Asian why are those combined?

Page 13 of 32 lists Hybla Valley at 91% Black and Hispanic. Now the real breakdown is 81% Hispanic , 5% Asian, 10% Black, 2 % white, etc.
65% Limited English Proficiency so if every Asian and Black student got LEP that still leaves 50%-remove white or other and the school hypothetically still has 47% Hispanic LEP .

So why is data combined on Black and Hispanic?

You might be happier with your fellow white supremecists in Montana.

Montana has rooms for steers and queers. Seems like thar latter suits you more

I am called a white supremacist etc for posting actual public school statistics? Honestly posters here don't care about our own citizens only illegal immigrants. I'm a Democrat and disgusted. Give me the accounting on where our money went in Haiti.

Explain why El Salvador is more important than my own people in Baltimore.

People in Baltimore already vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic Party. El Salvadorians would as well if they were brought here and granted citizenship. At worse their children will.

Huh, automatically assuming someone not Pro Trump is a liberal.

Anonymous wrote:It's kind of hard to argue that many of these countries are not shitholes. Burkina Faso has a literacy rate of 38%. Niger's per capita GDP is $400/year. Over 25% of Swaziland's population has AIDS and the average lifespan mirrors that of England in 1750. Rwanda is full of corpses and Sierra Leone has many people going about with limbs hacked off. Haiti, I don't even know where to start. It is impossible to argue against simple facts and statistics like this. They are awful places to live, full of malaria, yellow fever, schistosomiasis, cholera, typhoid, and other diseases that doctors here barely know how to treat because they never see them. The governments are corrupt and they periodically descend into civil war.

But the countries being shitholes does not mean that the people in them are. And that's what is implied in Trump's statement, and his immigration policies, and why it's so abhorrent. How many Americans today trace their roots back to Ireland? That would for sure have qualified as a shithole in those days, particularly during the Potato Famine. Nobody came to America for the last 400 years because they had a prosperous, lovely life--if that had been so, they would have stayed there. But people conveniently forget that, because they want to come and then pull up the ladder behind them and pretend it didn't happen.

100% totally agree with this. I guess the question is, why do we *have* to continue being the America of yesteryear if those policies don't benefit us today? I'm not saying they don't.

DP... I think this is a fair question. We don't *have* to do anything, however, our immigration policies should be fair in that we give everyone equal chance to immigrate here, and I'm not talking about open borders or illegal immigrants.

Saying that we should only allow in people from certain countries or with certain education backgrounds is not equitable. We do have some form of giving certain people priorities, like for people who invest $500K in a business in the US can get a green card (this is the controversy right now facing Kushner and the EB5 program), or certain types of skills. For the rest, there should be an open lottery to anyone who wants to immigrate here. To me, America has always been a place for people to come and have the opportunity to work hard and succeed, both for the well off and the not so well off.

Also, if we didn't need anymore low skilled workers why do Trump and other business owners, particularly farmers, continue to hire foreign workers? I'm curious why people think we don't need anymore low skilled workers when, for the most part, Americans don't want those sh1tty jobs.

In some ways, I also don't understand why people want more educated, high skill workers since these are the folks our American college grads would be competing with.

No, he hates all races equally.

About what?

About the fact they ARE shithole countries. Frankly, the dude is right about most things he says. You gems and ass-clowns just can't admit it.

Those countries are indeed sh1tholes, and that's why they want to leave them. It's also why your ancestors left their sh1thole countries, and why Trump's mother left her's. For me, the problem is not that he called the countries sh1tholes, but that he said "why do we let in people from these sh1tholes". The US has been letting in people from sh1tholes for over 200 years. Many of these immigrants from these sh1thole countries take on the menial low wage jobs that Americans don't want, like home health aides and such. Trump seems to have no issues with these people from sh1thole working at his resorts, too. I guess as long as he can make a quick buck off of them, then that's ok, but otherwise, no, we don't want poor brown/black people.. we want white people. That's essentially what he's saying. It's racist to say the least, and you just can't admit it.

What exactly is wrong with wanting white people?

Would you be equally outraged if he called Russia a "shithole country"?

Depends. Is it or isn't it? I've never been there.

Let's assume it is. Would you call him a racist then?
