WH announces construction of 90,000 sq foot ballroom to WH

On his social media, Trump is trying to equate his unilateral actions with the Kennedy Center (which just had 9 figures of renovation) and the East Wing with the Fed Office, which went through federal reviews and a congressional appropriation.

But I am sure someone will come on to this thread and bleat about how unfair it is to Trump.

Thank god! I wish we could reconstruct the original building. When trump leaves, maybe.

I'm thrilled that there has been a stay in construction. I hope construction can be delayed enough to kick the project into the next administration. The White House is a historical treasure and should have someone with taste making design decisions. Right now, he's torn up a granite walkway intending to use black marble for the base of the West Wing Colonnade. Marble is a terrible selection for outdoors. It is porous and it scratches easily. It will need to be redone in ten years. I hope today's judicial order prevents him from finishing his little walkway. I think Trump planned to bug the new bunker so that future presidents' secrets will be heard by our enemies. Do the architects and every construction worker have TS/SCI clearance as they should?

Agreed. He must be stopped. He’s ruining our White House with his tacky decor!

The responsible folk left in government must be fuming that Trump said PUBLICLY that the bunker is under the East Wing. At least have the enemy guessing, gee whiz!

The enemies already know. They’ve paid or promised to pay Trump for bugging the place.

The only good side of this mess is that I think that’s where the old bunker was, so if Trump spends time in the White House before it’s completed, he’ll be missing at least one extremely safe space.

I’m convinced that Trump will resign on the day that will potentially allow Vance to run for two terms, so he’s stealing, hoarding, destroying, and decorating what ever he can now. The clock is ticking. Wishful and horrified thinking, I know.

How soon until the Supreme Court rules on its emergency docket that construction can continue “for now” with no explanation?

Take a look at his proposed Trump Library skyscraper that will tower over every building and disrupt the downtown Miami Skyline. Overseen by Eric, it will be a monument to the greatest president of all time, complete with a golden staircase. He already had the PB airport name changed to President Donald J Trump International Airport.

He must be irked that people know when he needs to go to the hospital.

I was thinking that Trump was going to ignore the courts per usual, but that won't really work, will it? I would think the construction companies won't take on the liability while its being held up in court, and a presidential pardon only applies to federal criminal offenses (not to mention the reputational and financial harm being attached to the project would mean if its subject to post-Trump litigation). And the number/variety of contractors needed for this type of effort is huge.

Clarke Construction has the contract. They will do as they are told. My friend is a supervisor for Clarke. His team was pulled from another major government contract to work on the "ballroom." They are working 12 hour days, 6 days a week. trump will get this thing completed very very soon.

“WATCH US EAT CAKE”
Republican strategist/former Trump official goes on the record telling Trump to STFU about the ballroom already. “I’ve just never seen such a tone-deaf approach to both the international and domestic concerns and priorities of the American people.”
