What is your rising HS sophomore doing this summer?

As ECs are more important than ever before, what kind of activities is your 15 year old DC doing this summer?

Mine will be a CIT plus complete his Behind-the-Wheel class. I'm not worried about his ECs as he has things he's interested in and will work on them/participate when he has time (I also have a HS senior, so just went through the college app process).

One week of Scouts camp, one week of space camp, and then starts his fall marching band rehearsals first week of August. The rest of the weeks are hanging at home, seeing friends, going to the pool, playing video games and reading. We didn't plan the summer based on college applications, though, it's just what he wanted to do.

That’s fine.

But kids who wish to be competitive for T50 schools need to think bigger than the above.

My child would be happy to support your child’s efforts through the non-profit they’re starting this summer.

Eating and spending countless hours online. He’s still undecided on taking a summer class and playing a fall sport. No luck getting a job yet. Being a lifeguard isn’t an option.
