Anyone super disappointed or surprised by FA package?

Or did you get about what you expected? We were underwhelmed by most of ours and wonder why the school thinks we can afford as much as they say.

They either think you can afford it because they've seen similar profiles of people who did afford it in the past, or they just don't have more to give you.

We're a current family and asked for $15k and were given $40k. It's kind of crazy.

Wow. So did you take the whole $40k even though you could have made it work with $15k?

Wow. Is it too late for current families to ask?

Wait until you see what FASFA thinks you can pay for college.

Here's the thing: there are free public schools available to every family in this country. Don't like what they want you to pay, go to public like everyone else who doesn't have a bajillion dollars.

Maybe you can pay more. Your choosing to have high expenses with a high income doesn't entitle you to more financial aid. It means you cut back expenses.

If you can afford private school you can afford college and you have 18 years to save.

Of course not, we only needed 15k and that’s all we are taking.

Lol. This is a poster pretending to be me. (Why do people do this?. So weird)

Yes, we took the money. We had been barely able to pay the tuition.
2 Kids. 2 schools. We asked for $15K from each. One gave us $5K and one gave us $40K.

Congrats PP. The sss site estimated we would get nothing and that was pretty much correct for us.

That was us last year, we got more than $40K spread between our two children.

I was floored. But then I realize that the school says they give a lot of aid, and I don't see a lot of people who appear to have less $ than we have.
