I always wanted a water bed

When I was a kid, I thought you were rich and living your best life if you had a water bed. I never have had a waterbed and I’ve never slept on one.

Ha ha me too!
I do actually have a water pillow now.

Me, too! I never had one, but did lose my virginity on one 😀.

I had a water mattress for several years. It was incredible.

I’m not sure if they still make them, but I definitely recommend.

I once and too briefly lived with a guy who owned a waterbed. It was sublime both for sleeping and for sex, at least when I was 19 and he was 22 and we were both lithe and fit and into going all night long.

Had one for years. Best sleep ever.

The older teenage daughter of some family friends had a waterbed in her bedroom on the lower level of their raised ranch house. She used to let me, an annoying boy of 7, 8, 9 play on it. That’s the simple kindness I remember her for, because she died of breast cancer in her late 20s. (Not saying it’s related, or anything, just that I remember her waterbed.)

no the duplex mattresses like in fancy hotels

I also had sex on a waterbed or two. Or maybe three?? Have never owned one, though. They seemed like an accident waiting to happen.

My best friend had a waterbed and so did her parents. I remember getting caught in the hard edge frame most nights on the side where there was less water... I was heavier than her :😌... not a comfy look, lol

I desperately wanted one in middle school in the ‘80s and my parents let me use my own money to buy one. It was okay - a little weird and sloshy, and got super cold in New England in winter when the power went out - had to sleep on the couch those nights.

I think I kept it for a year and then went back to my normal mattress. I still remember that it cost $138.

My friends parents had one when I was a kid. They used to let us have a movie night in their room, there was a TV at the end of the bed (with a Beta video player!) and we'd pile 5-6 kids on the bed to watch Adventures in Babysitting or something. Lots of bouncing around. Great fun.

It seems like it would be hard to sleep on, especially if you share the bed with a restless sleeper! Wouldn't you get jostled awake every time your partner moves? I can see the appeal of having sex on one, though.

My afterschool baby sitter had a water bed. She was a family friend and stay at home mom, with kids the same age as me and my brother.

Her son and I would always jump and play on it. Then my babysitter would scream at us that we were going to break the bed! We’d run out the window and then wait for her to get distracted before we’d go jump on it again. It was hilarious.

I remember that the water bed eventually sprung a leak. Her engineer husband tried to devise some fix, but they had to just get it replaced and it was a big drama. I think one of her kid punctured it with scissors lol 😂
