Older, overweight woman needs help finding bathing suit options

Anonymous
Can anyone on here recommend a good company for a bathing suit that would work on a 60+ aged woman, who is overweight (size 14 or 16)?

I have tried a few, from Cole, and nothing seemed to work.

I know that the body is the problem, but there are other women like me in the US. What are they wearing to swim?? Thank you...

I love your question and will be looking at the answers for help here, too!

Black skort bottom, tankini top, rash guard. Order some different styles from Lands End and return whatever doesnt work.

If by overweight you mean you can’t lose those last 6 lbs, then this probably won’t apply to you, but check out www.swimsuitsforall.com. Their suits are very inexpensive, but the quality is fine.

Def lands end

I wear swim shorts and matching empire waist tankini top that flares at the bottom.

Thanks to all who have posted (and trust me, we are not talking 6 pounds here... )

Lands End. I tried a swimsuits for all suit and found it not supportive enough-I think a younger woman would have rocked it, but I'm sticking with the built-like-a-tank lands end suits.

I like a tankini top that is not too tight, but certainly not flowing. Ruched if I can find it. The best thing popular now are super high waist bottoms! Those paired under a tankini go really well for me. Another option would be a shorts style bottom or skirt.

I agree with the Lands End suggestion. Order a bunch of things in varying sizes and see what feels best.

OP is the problem here:
A) the suits don’t fit in some practical way (like the girls are falling out, it’s riding up, etc)
B) you don’t think the suits are flattering and you’re unhappy with how you look so don’t want to go swim
C) you’re worried that the suits are unflattering and other people will notice and be upset or judgmental

This is not a trick question, I think the three things have different solutions.

I tried on two different suits. One was cut oddly (where the skirt slit came on me). The other (a tankini top) was just unflattering because it was quite long and tight, so it showed rolls of.....need I go on?

I think I need to opt for a looser top that flares a bit, as suggested above. Thanks all (and for being kind rather than snarkey )

Oh sweet child. Run away from DC Urban Moms while you still can. It's a trap!

Another vote for lands end suits.

Try Title Nine. Seriously. Their suits are sportier than you may be looking for, but they have lots of tanking styles that are built to stay put and be very flexible. And skirts + shorts + high-cut bottoms…. And coordinating rash guards.
