Carjacking in Adams Morgan winds up in Arlington

The carjackings are getting more and more brazen

A cop was carjacked recently in Silver Spring. He arrested the teen, of course. I’m thinking about getting an air tag for my car so I can track it if stolen.

Whoops! OP here.

I was catching up on local news and read two news alerts back to back.

The first was this one about a stabbing in Adams Morgan. The second was the above alert about the carjacking that took
Place in Arlington and ended in NW.

How wise is it to have the National Cannabis Festival and the Glow Fest in DC with the heightened crime wave??

Hopefully this doesn't bring in the yokels from flyover states. DC doesn't need tourists. It needs federal workers to go back to the office.

It’s almost like that’s how roads work.

Can we just remove all the bridges over the Potomac?

There needs to be some serious questions raised about why teens are committing these carjackings. Serious question, as opposed to "well it's because they're poor" because being poor doesn't mean you need to do carjackings - and what random teen has the means and wherewithal to sell a stolen car or part it out?

Are they stealing cars on behalf of adults who can sell them? Are they stealing cars on behalf of people who want to use the cars to commit other crimes?
We need to know who else is involved in these carjackings.

They’re stealing cars because it’s thrilling and they have no concept of discipline or morality. They have nobody looking out for them, and no future to concern themselves with. The latter is in part because they are poor. Until we discipline these kids and make it not worth their while to steal cars, they won’t stop.

No future that they are aware of. They have futures, but not if they persist in destroying them. Also, you don't just wake up one morning with a glock in your lap and decide to carjack. There likely was already a long history prior. It's time for their bullshit to end.

This is getting really ridiculous now.

I heard the guy who carjacked a woman with her 3 year old inside (amber alert on thursday) was released 3 days later. Oh, and he was still wearing jail pants during carjacking because he had been released after stealing a car the day before. Unbelievable.

In general, cars are stolen so the perps can commit other crimes with that car.

Young men and women are stealing cars for gang initiations, for joy rides, to try to sell them for parts, because they are bored, angry, and have no future.

You're an a**-hat.

To the PP, unfortunately every day in the District is a festival like this sine the laws on public consumption are not being enforced at all.
